As Dota 2 community is eagerly awaiting the start of The International 2023 (TI12), the fans were treated to a great surprise by the Russian powerhouse, Team Spirit. On 4th October, the winners of The International 2021 and the Riyadh Master 2023 released a lighthearted and entertaining video that showcased the roster’s artistic talents beyond the gaming arena.

Team Spirit wrote, “The last rehearsal before the Team Spirit Dota 2 roster goes to TI12. We know you've been waiting for this.” Fans have been appreciating this new form of engagement and content from Team Spirit and wished the team the best of luck during the much-anticipated TI12 tournament.

Team Spirit Is In High Spirits!

In a refreshing twist of content before TI, Team Spirit adapted and parodied the iconic song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and titled it "Smells Like Team Spirit." The organization released the song on its YouTube channel just days before the commencement of The Internationals 2023 which is happening in Seattle, Washington.

The rendition featured the team members of Team Spirit, with each of them taking on a key musical role:

  •  Vocals: Miroslav "Mira" Kolpakov

  •  Guitar: Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov

  •  Guitar: Denis "Larl" Sigitov

  •  Bass: Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naydenov

  •  Drums: Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk

The video showcased the players donning musical instruments and immersing themselves in a rock and roll spirit, adding a touch of humor and creativity for Dota 2 fans to enjoy.

The release of "Smells Like Team Spirit" underscores the positive atmosphere within Team Spirit as it prepares to fight for the title at The International. The team's willingness to engage with its fans and the wider gaming community in a lighthearted manner demonstrates the organization’s commitment to fostering a strong connection with the supporters.

A verse from the parody that struck a chord was: "We over-trained and self secure, oh no, I know you'll lose for sure."

This implied how the team is all set and prepared for the tournament and it is aiming to lift the trophy for a second time.

Team Spirit's adaptation of the classic Nirvana song has been gaining traction within the Dota 2 community. Fans have flooded the comments section with praise for the players' musical talents and their unique approach to team bonding.

One user commented, “No other group emanates such powerful positive energy. I am extremely happy to follow your development. Come on, guys, take a skating rink through the tournament bracket at the upcoming International and lift the coveted trophy over your heads for the second time to remind the entire community which team is rightfully considered the best. We are with you!”

With a week to go until the tournament officially begins, fans can't help but wonder if Team Spirit's creativity and confidence will translate into success once again on the grand stage of The International.

"Smells Like Team Spirit" also serves as a reminder that Team Spirit is not only a formidable force within the Dota 2 world but also a team that knows how to have fun and keep the spirit of competition alive.
