Gaimin Gladiators puts a stop to Team Spirit's 35 series win streak on the first day of the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai playoffs.
Following the loss, Team Spirit's Mira shared some reflections on his Telegram.

On 11th February, after an electrifying showdown at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai playoffs, Gaimin Gladiators finally broke Team Spirit’s 35-series win streak which lasted for over 200 days. The two teams played in a best-of-three (BO3) series and Gladiators was able to clean sweep the two-time TI (The International) winning Team Spirit.

Gaimin Gladiators has been consistent at BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai as it even clean-swept its biggest rival of 2023, Team Liquid, on the very first day of the tournament.

Team Spirit’s Win Streak Put to a Stop

During the first day of the playoffs, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Spirit faced each other in a best-of-three series in the upper bracket quarter-finals. Gaimin Gladiators impressively managed to win two games over the Russian powerhouse of Team Spirit and relegated it to the lower bracket. In the lower bracket, Spirit will face off against LGD Gaming.

Following this disappointing loss, Team Spirit’s support Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov recorded his thoughts on his Telegram. He said “As for our matches today, we didn't go for proper drafts and made mistakes in team fights against Gaimin Gladiators, very unforgivable. Tomorrow we'll try to make a comeback.

Dota 2 streamer and personality, Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski on the other hand was impressed by Gaimin Gladiators’ performance. He even deemed that Quinn "Quinn" Callahan’s Pangolier is arguably the best in the world, calling him “uncontested.” Gorgc further called Gaimin Gladiators one of the strongest teams and added, “If they (Gaimin Gladiators) took TI too… They got second in TI. If they took TI, they would have been the best ever I think. In terms of only one year, you know? It might still be the best ever, the streak that Gaimin had last year. It might be the best ever.

It should be noted that Team Spirit started its win streak at the Riyadh Masters 2023 group stage with a win against PSG.LGD. During this 35 series win-streak that lasted till 11th February 2024, Gaimin Gladiators played Team Spirit in three different tournaments — DreamLeague Season 21, The International 2023, and BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai — and could only break Team Spirit’s streak at BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. One could also say that Gaimin Gladiators has now exacted revenge on its foe that denied it The International 2023 title.
