Kuro "KuroKy" Takhasomi, Nigma Galaxy’s captain and position five player, has struggled in competitive Dota 2 these past two years with average performances followed by failures to qualify for The International (TI) 10 and 11. Therefore, a lot of times, the blame has fallen on KuroKy for both his captaincy and his in-game skills. The former CIS Rejects player Artsiom "Fng" Barshak, who has been quite vocal about other professional players' gameplay on his Twitch livestreams lately, believes KuroKy to be ineffective in-game. Fng stated KuroKy fails to produce anything useful in games, comparing him with another position five/captain (for Virtus.pro) Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin.
Fng believes KuroKy has minimal impact in competitive games
With regards to his thoughts on professional Dota 2 players, Fng has been very upfront on livestreams and has not minced his words. As was the case for KuroKy and Dukalis, a budding 20-year-old Virtus.pro captain.
“I watch KuroKy play like I watch Dukalis play, to be honest. KuroKy's game was so bad [against HellRaisers on BetBoom Xmas Show]. I mean, he doesn't do anything at all in the game. Dukalis just fails a lot and it makes everything crooked.”

On the BetBoom Xmas Show, which took place from 16th to 29th Dec 2022, Nigma Galaxy debuted its new roster, featuring Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf as the carry player. A disastrous showing followed, as the team was beaten 2-0 by HellRaisers in the upper bracket, then beaten 2-1 by Entity in the lower bracket, forcing it to bow out of the event.
In contrast, Virtus.pro did relatively well in the BetBoom Xmas Show, under Dukalis' leadership, as the team finished in fourth place.
Despite KuroKy's decision to continue competing in Dota 2, in pursuit of his second TI title, speculations swirled that he would be stepping down from the roster ever since the team lost all hopes of qualifying for TI11 in Sept 2022. A prolonged break or even a transition to coaching were some of the rumors surrounding the player, but he returned as captain.
For the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2023 season, KuroKy and Nigma will look to up their ante and contend for tournament wins which have eluded them for two years. TI11 champions Tundra Esports will be the team's first opponent in DPC WEU 2023 Tour 1: Division I on 11th Jan 2023.
