Fnatic has bounced back from last week's loss to Team SMG to win its first series in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Southeast Asia (SEA) 2021-22 Tour 1: Division 1. The team beat TNC Predator with a score of 2-0. Although both teams made some solid moves to try and pull ahead in the first game, Fnatic's teamfight execution was far superior to TNC Predator's, allowing the team to close the match in its favor. A one-sided second game saw Fnatic outperform their opponents right up from the drafting phase till the very end. TNC Predator has now lost three straight series in the DPC SEA 2021-22 Tour 1: Division 1.
Fnatic wins the first series in the DPC 2021-22 while TNC Predator extends its losing streak
Recap
In game 1, it was quite the competitive bout as both teams exchanged blows until Fnatic began to take the lead. For TNC Predator, only YoungGod progressed on his safelane Lifestealer, while everyone on the Fnatic side was farming well. The lack of damage output from TNC Predator caused Fnatic to triumph in teamfights and the latter won in 39 minutes.
In game 2, Fnatic gained an advantage in the drafting phase since TNC Predator's draft proved to be rather one-dimensional. A draft that revolved mainly around physical damage and offered little control made it too difficult for TNC Predator to make many moves, in turn also allowing Fnatic to play at will. As the laning phase concluded, Fnatic scored kill after kill and advanced from one objective to another to easily secure the win in 32 minutes.
Highlights
Here are some highlights of the series.
After a rough start to its DPC 2021-22 campaign against Team SMG, Fnatic looked much better today, underlining their credentials in the two victories. On the other hand, TNC Predator failed to make an impression once again, recording its third consecutive loss in the tournament. With some tough matchups still left, it will be very challenging for the new TNC Predator team to finish in the top three.
Interview: Fnatic Armel explains why the team picks Jabz’s hero in the end
Following the win, Fnatic's midlaner, Armel Paul "Armel" Tabios, joined the post-match winner's interview. When questioned on Fnatic's drafting patterns with regards to offlaner/captain Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong's hero primarily being picked at the end, Armel provided a hilarious response.
“I think we just want him to have a good game. And he is the captain, he can do whatever. He can do the last pick, he is like a boss, you can not do anything about it. If I ask for the last pick, I might get kicked (laughs).”
In addition, Armel said he was looking forward to playing against T1 and aims to defeat them, since T1 seemed to be the strongest contender in the league.
