In arguably the most anticipated series of the Southeast Asia (SEA) Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 Tour 3: Division 1, Talon Esports swept T1 2-0, presenting a clinic of top tier execution. Talon’s carry player Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon, who played for T1 previously, proved his readiness to take the win today, delivering spectacular performances on his signature Faceless Void and Morphling in games one and two respectively. 23savage said during the winner’s interview that T1 performed well, but Talon outperformed them. “Feels pretty good. Kinda feels like redemption for the past few months,” he added.

T1 vs Talon Esports: Match recap and highlights

Recap

In game 1, Talon picked up the tempo, in contrast to the slower playstyle that T1 had come to anticipate from it. Talon was able to progressively develop a significant lead by finding regular pickoffs, whilst T1 continued to play somewhat passively, hoping to turn it around during the high ground defense. T1, on the other hand, never got its footing in the game and appeared surprised by Talon's meticulous execution, losing the first game in 40 minutes.

In game 2, Talon brought a carry Morphling, while T1 went with an unusual draft that included a midlane Queen of Pain, a carry Slark, and a position five Razor. T1 performed effectively in the laning stage this time, particularly on the side lanes, giving it an early advantage. Although when it came to teamfights Talon's draft just outperformed, which was shown further when kpii unleashed all of his spells on Brewmaster to maximum effect. With all the farm and kills, he helped his cores shine, and 23savage, in particular, got quite powerful. T1 tried a variety of tactics, including split pushing, but Talon made no errors and won the second game in 47 minutes.

Highlights

Here are some highlights of the series.

Talon's previous games of this Tour have emphasized its defensive abilities, but in today's first game, it showed off its ability to play faster as well. In addition, the team's drafts looked really good as 23savage mentioned during the post-match winner's interview that his past experience playing with T1 assisted with the drafts. With this series win, Talon ranks on top alongside RSG in the points table and strengthens its position for a Major berth.

T1's patchy season continues, with the team often appearing strong and then lacking at other times. Not only was it out-strategized, but Talon also proved to be more efficient in execution. Due to its loss against RSG previously, T1's road to the PGL Arlington Major has grown increasingly difficult now as it still needs to place against BOOM Esports and Fnatic.
