BOOM Esports has had an excellent season so far, taking first place in the Tour 1 league, as well as winning the Regional Finals, and now continuing the success in the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022.
After the team's recent win over a stacked lineup of Team Secret in the Gamers Galaxy 2022, BOOM Esports' offlaner Saieful "Fbz" Ilham said that he had not anticipated his team to do so well.
According to Fbz, this was the first time he had done well on an international stage, adding that these were all learning experiences for The International 11.

BOOM Esports entered the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 after dominating Tour 1 of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22. The performances of the team certainly made for a spectacle to watch, but the lack of experience of its players in comparison to other established Dota 2 teams in the event raised eyebrows.

However, BOOM Esports made a strong start in the group stage of Gamers Galaxy 2022 and has now eliminated the star-studded roster of Team Secret from the competition.

BOOM Esports' offlaner Saieful "Fbz" Ilham came for the post-match winner's interview where he expressed his excitement with the way his team was playing. Fbz, who has little LAN experience like most of his teammates, was honest and upfront as said he was not expecting his team to have a good a season of they type that the team is enjoying at the moment. Noting that all these events act as stepping stones towards The International 11 (TI11), Fbz said that he hopes to make Southeast Asia (SEA) proud.

Fbz talks about BOOM Esports' performance and goals during the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022

BOOM Esports, the best team in the South East Asian (SEA) region for the current season, has been displaying some outstanding performances in Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022, standing shoulder to shoulder with the best teams from other regions. After topping its group, BOOM Esports lost in the upper bracket to Tundra Esports but went on to defeat Team Secret in the lower bracket with a display of impeccable drafting and execution.

During the interview following this win, Fbz was visibly pleased that he had defeated Team Secret and would now play TI10 winners - Team Spirit - in the next lower bracket round. “Feeling quite excited because we did good gameplay today and we are excited about more Dota, especially later we will play against TI winner. Really excited,” he said.

During the past four months, BOOM Esports has had nothing but success. The team had to begin Tour 1 in Division 2, but unforeseen circumstances turned out to be in its favor, and it played in Division 1. As a result, it won the league and continued with this success into the Regional Finals, where it placed first again.

When Fbz was asked if he expected all of this, he remained modest and replied that it was all a part of learning. “Not really honestly. I think our plan this year is just to focus on learning and Major and DPC leagues are learning processes for TI. We don’t expect to be so good. The last time I went to a Minor, we just got fourth place. It is not a good achievement. This is the first time I am doing good at the international stage.”

Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 may not be a DPC tournament, but the fact that it is being played on LAN with the best teams from around the world makes it very noteworthy. Having opponents like Team Spirit, Nigma Galaxy, and Tundra Esports still in the tournament, BOOM Esports still has a long road ahead of it in the event, but Fbz hopes to make “Southeast Asia proud.”
