ESL Welcomes Teams to the Stockholm Major 2022 With Hilarious Intro Letters

Fans around the globe are eager and excited for the return of the first significant Dota 2 international LAN event with a live crowd in over two years, the Stockholm Major 2022. ESL, the organizer of the Major, has further tapped into this excitement by giving all teams participating amusing welcome cards created by popular Dota 2 personality Jake "SirActionSlacks" Kanner. With the names of the players and coaches prominently displayed on top, SirActionSlacks tells the story of the team's history and journey to the Major in a humorous way marked by puns and sarcastic remarks.

Although the Major has some external issues, such as visa complications and lockdowns, which can dampen the excitement, ESL and SirActionSlacks are seemingly committed to making this year's Major exciting for viewers as well as players and teams.

When it came to the intro cards, a fun introduction to the legacy of the old players was given by Slacks and his team for OG, and then the new players were motivated to create their own mark in an amusing manner.

Could there be a note to T1 that excludes Ignition? That's what SirActionSlacks outlined in its welcoming letter to the squad from Southeast Asia. “As you take the shuttle over to the arena with Whitemon singing “IgniT1on” at the top of his lungs to drown out March’s constant, unending screaming, I want you to ignore Kuku’s driving and focus on what truly matters: This is a once in a life-time moment,” it read.

In detail, Slacks described each of Tundra Esports' players, with Neta "33" Shapira receiving perhaps the wackiest description as it read, “33 please update your onlyfans.”

As Slacks discussed the individual players of TSM, he expressed his perceptions of them in his trademark humorous manner. Slacks, himself a North American (NA) representative of Dota 2, went on to add, “As the only NA squad that has a real sponsored org, [EG LUL] it is up to you to represent the NA region and bring our unique styles to the Major, Invade their struggles. Crush their supports. Show the world what you guys are all about. They underestimate NA, and that will be their downfall!”

There was a lot of clever wordplay contained in the Thunder Awaken intro car. Despite Slacks' attempt to bring his team Arkosh Gaming into the conversation due to the word "Awaken" in its name, perhaps the best line was reserved for carry player Crhistian Antony "Pakazs" Savina Casanova that read, “Pakazs, they call you the Arteezy of South America. Don’t let them get to you. I think you CAN win a Major!”

With beastcoast, Slacks used a number of past examples and characteristics of the players and the team as a whole, producing a light-hearted and entertaining read.

With such engaging content, thanks to ESL and SirActionSlacks, just a few days before the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year yet, it becomes all the more exciting to see how the actual action will be.

The Major begins on 12th May with 14 teams competing for the lion’s share of the $500,000 USD prize pool and 3,530 DPC points. Chinese teams will unfortunately not be able to attend the event. While the group stage takes place from 12th till 19th May from team bootcamps in Stockholm, the final three days - 20th to 22nd May - will see the playoffs being held in front of a live crowd at the Hovet Arena.
