Dreamleague Season 20 is well underway, with Group B already finalizing their four qualified teams. However, Group A remained a battleground as Team Secret, Tundra Esports, and EG competed fiercely for the final slot in Group Stage 2. In the tournament, the Top 4 from each of the groups will be qualified for the second group stages, where the Top 2 from each group will move on to the next section of the tournament. The teams are competing for a massive prize pool of $1,000,000 USD and 2 slots for the Riyadh Masters 2023.
EG, Team Secret, and Tundra Esports Compete For 4th Slot
The fight for the fourth spot in Group A became an intense showdown between Team Secret, Tundra Esports, and EG. Team Secret surprised fans as they had an impressive run at Dreamleauge Season 20, almost being qualified for Group Stage 2, however, they failed to win some key series and went into tiebreakers with Tundara Esports and EG. The team’s run was surprising as they had a disappointing run in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 3: Division I and were relegated to Division II. However, the team’s newest addition of Saieful "Fbz" Ilham replacing Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan seems to have paid off.
Tundra Esports’ run was also surprising to fans as they finished 1st in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division I, but struggled to make it to Group Stage 2 in the tournament. However, the team has been playing the tournament with 2 stand-ins, Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak and Aleksandr "Immersion" Khmelevskoi replacing Leon "Nine" Kirilin and Martin "Saksa" Sazdov, which may have affected the team’s performance.
In the initial tiebreaker match, Tundra Esports beat Team Secret, leaving them only 1 game away from qualifying for Group Stage 2. However, their momentum was short-lived as they faced EG in the second match.
Both Tundra Esports and Team Secret's dreams of securing the last spot were shattered in the final tiebreaker match against EG, who beat both teams back-to-back to clinch the last spot.
