The Dota 2 community is currently grappling with server lag issues, which have worsened in the lead-up to The International 2023 (TI12).
Pros have been expressing their concerns about the server lag on social media.
As of now, Valve has not officially addressed the server lag problem or its cause.

With The International 2023 (TI12) just around the corner, the Dota 2 community is facing a frustrating problem — server lag. This issue has seemingly intensified following the release of The International 2023 Celebration Update and Counter Strike 2, leaving professional players including Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov, and Andreas Franck "Cr1t-" Nielsen struggling to practice effectively.

Dota 2, a game known for its competitive intensity, demands stable servers for a seamless gaming experience. Unfortunately, the recent state of the game has been plagued by server lag in the past week, leading to widespread frustration. Lag spikes and delays have disrupted gameplay and practice sessions, causing concern among both casual and professional players.

Arteezy, Collapse, & Cr1t- Highlight Server Lag Issues

Prominent Dota 2 professionals including Arteezy, Collapse, and Cr1t- have openly voiced their struggles with server lag. Their voices carry weight within the community, and their complaints highlight the severity of the issue. These players are preparing for The International, which is considered the most important tournament on the esports calendar for these pros.

Cr1t- first took to Twitter on 29th September to express his dismay regarding the Dota 2 game servers. He tweeted, “Yesterday servers down for 6 hours, today servers cra**ing themselves for 6 hours.

He followed up by directly tagging Valve, urging the company to fix this issue. He wrote, “Servers have been laggy for a full week now @valvesoftware.

Meanwhile, Abed "Abed" Yusop took a shot at Valve by bringing in the TI12 Compendium and prize pool issue into the picture as well. He said, “All servers have been given to CS2 .. sorry dota, no servers, no TI prize pool.

Players should note that the actual cause of the server lag issues in Dota 2 is not yet known since Valve has not officially acknowledged it or released an update.

With The International kicking off on 12th October, it is high time that Valve addressed the server lag problem. The competitive integrity of The International and the pro Dota 2 scene is at stake, and only decisive action from Valve can prevent further disruption.

The community is looking forward to hearing Valve's response and is expecting a swift resolution. This will ensure that professional players prepare adequately for the tournament and casual players can enjoy the game.
