A remake due to BOOM Esports' carry being unable to reconnect causes controversy in the Dota 2 community
Sammyboy of Leviatan claims that this was blatant cheating
He pointed out the disadvantages they had to face due to the reconnect which involved no creepwave to push tower, all spells cooldown reset amongst other.

Controversy took the spotlight at PGL Wallachia Season 1 South America Closed Qualifier during the Upper Bracket Semifinals that took place between BOOM Esports and Leviatan.

During the third game of the best-of-three series, Crhistian "Pakazs" Savina from BOOM Esports, unfortunately, disconnected at a crucial 38th minute and was unable to reconnect to the game. The event organizers tried to fix the problem for more than fifty minutes to no avail.

Consequently, a decision to remake the game was taken by the organizers. However, due to the nature and complexity of the game, a simple remake would look over multiple factors that go into the game.

BOOM vs Leviatan: Dota 2 Rematch Controversy Takes Centerstage

After the game reset, Leviatan who had finally gotten an advantage after a teamwipe in the game was left without any creeps to push, hindering their game's momentum. According to Leviatan’s carry Samuel "Sammyboy" Anderson this situation was “blatantly cheating”.

Leviatan eventually went on to lose the game while BOOM Esports made their way onto the Upper Bracket Finals.

Sammyboy Upset With BOOM Esports vs Leviatan Remake

During the recent PGL Wallachia Season 1: South America Closed Qualifiers, BOOM Esports and Leviatan engaged in a fierce best-of-three series.

In the third game, Leviatan struggled against the aggressive lineup of BOOM. However, with enough patience and planned execution, Leviatan was able to turn things around at the 38th-minute mark and gained momentum to go for a high-ground attempt to secure some barracks.

At this crucial minute, Pakazs, who had been complaining about lag decided to reconnect to the game but soon found himself unable to reconnect. This led to a fifty-minute delay and the game was eventually remade. Sammyboy, who was not happy with this decision inquired how that decision was fair given that they just lost momentum in the already bad game.

After the game was remade Leviatan lost and Sammyboy took to X to explain how the entire situation panned out according to him, “When the game got re-made we had no creep waves, no creep wave spawning for 30 seconds, the enemy team all alive with no respawn timers, and no opportunity to force buy-back. We were massively disadvantaged by this remake and anybody can open the replay and see how much we lost.”

Furthermore, he explained, “When we load into the remake, the enemy team had all respawned, no creep waves had spawned (and wouldn't spawn for 30 seconds), and all spells were now off cooldown. None of this was mentioned to us beforehand and completely changed the game.”

Sammyboy added, “The admin did decide to make the enemy team wait in base until he told them they could move, but if you open the replay Pakaz moved 2 seconds before the admin told him he could move, and all other Boom players moved without the admin saying anything. Opening the replay here can confirm this. (see when Boom players move and when admin types) 7656780048. To me, this is also blatantly cheating.

While the results of the series are now final, the two teams try to look forward to this event and gear up for their next qualifier matches.

Leviatan, now in the lower bracket will face Infinity to avoid elimination in a best-of-three series on 28th March and BOOM Esports will go against beastcoast for a spot at the qualifying match.
