BTS moves to SEA DPC for the 2021-22 season

BTS tweeted that it was excited to announce its coverage of the SEA region for the DPC 2021-22. As an organizer, BTS is not a new name in the region, as it has held nine seasons of the BTS Pro Series: SEA over the years. The ninth series ended just recently and BOOM Esports emerged as the tournament's champion after beating Polaris Esports in the grand final.

PGL held the SEA DPC league in the previous season.

The following are the six organizers of the DPC 2021-22:

  • North America - ESL

  • South America - 4D Esports

  • Western Europe - DreamLeague

  • Eastern Europe - Epic Esports Events

  • China - Perfect World

  • Southeast Asia - Beyond the Summit

The organizers from the previous season, One Game Agency (OGA) and PGL, will not cover the regional seasons in the upcoming season.

At the time of writing this article, BTS had not yet announced the dates or the format of the SEA DPC open qualifiers. Unless a team withdraws from the league, two teams will join the Lower Division from the open qualifiers. In each division, there will be a total of eight teams competing in a round-robin group stage. The Lower Division teams will be battling for a position in the Upper Division, while the Upper Division teams will be competing for the DPC points and qualification for the first Major.

The organizers of the three Majors and the location of these events are usually announced after the conclusion of regional leagues.

For the first regional league of the DPC 2021-22, the roster lock date is 21st Nov 2021. Detailed information about the team rosters, match schedules, broadcast talent, and more is expected to be announced soon.
