Boom Esports has announced the addition of Filipino player, Rolen Andrei Gabriel "skem" Ong (also known as "ctm") to its Dota 2 roster. With a video message posted to its social media accounts, skem was welcomed into the Indonesian organization, but his role was not specified. In the past week, skem departed OB.Neon and BOOM Esports underwent a drastic roster change, leading to the speculation that the two parties will join forces. Boom Esports now has three players registered to its Dota 2 team, with more to be announced in the near future.

BOOM Esports signs skem

“Hi, guys! I am skem. I am a part of BOOM Esports now and I am really excited to play under BOOM Esports. Please keep supporting us. Stay hungry, hungry beast,” skem said upon his arrival at BOOM Esports.

The official updated roster of BOOM Esports after this acquisition is:

  • Rafli Fathur "Mikoto" Rahman

  • Saieful "Fbz" Ilham

  • Rolen Andrei Gabriel "skem" Ong

Skem had parted ways with OB.Neon last week after working for the organization for more than a year. During this period, he played a variety of roles for the team, including position four, offlaner, and safelaner. The best performance came at the Singapore Major 2021 when the team defeated some of the world's best teams to finish 5th-6th. The gradual decline in OB.Neon’s performances following the Singapore Major culminated in a number of roster changes.

The BOOM Esports organization, meanwhile, parted ways with three of its key players last week. At that time, Gary Ongko Putera, CEO of the organization, had said that they were not only considering Indonesian but also international players to complete their Dota 2 roster.

Khezcute, one of the three playersto depart from BOOM Esports, also retired from competitive Dota 2

The fact that Mikoto continues to be a member of BOOM Esports is worth noting, as he has recently joined a new team called ‘Tolong Hamba’ for the open qualifiers of the BTS Pro Series S8: Southeast Asia (SEA). BOOM Esports has been directly invited to this event, so Mikoto's departure from the Indonesian organization is likely as well. The formal communication is still pending.

The BTS Pro Series S8: SEA will begin on 7th Sept, 2021 so there are just four days left until the announcement of the last remaining players of BOOM Esports' Dota 2 lineup.
