Boom Esports have qualified for The International 2022 (TI11) Main Event playoffs after defeating both BetBoom Team & Soniqs in a three-way tiebreaker. The Southeast Asian (SEA) squad were staring at an early elimination from TI11 after a lackluster performance throughout the group stage. However, a clutch 2-0 victory over group leaders Evil Geniuses and favorable results from other matches in the final day of the Group Stage allowed Boom Esports a chance at a playoff berth with a three-way tiebreaker.
Boom Esports fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief after today, as the team will move on to face either defending champions Team Spirit or fellow SEA brethren Fnatic in the Lower Bracket of the Main Event Playoffs.
According to data analyst Noxville, BOOM Esports only had a 1.42% of making to the lower brackets when the day started. In the end, the team defied all odds and made it.
Boom Esports secures final playoff slot in Group A
Group A saw a massive turn of events coming into the final day of the TI11 Group Stage, as it saw a three-way tiebreaker between Boom Esports, BetBoom Team and Soniqs for the final slot in the Main Event playoffs.
Boom Esports vs Soniqs: Match recap
Boom Esports started its draft by picking up Kunkka, Bristleback and Brewmaster as its core lineup while Soniqs drafted Templar Assassin, Broodmother and Death Prophet.
While the laning phase was fairly quiet, Boom Esports were playing with confidence as they dominated the map during the mid game phase, not allowing Soniqs to reach its late-game potential. The game ends after 33 minutes, as Boom Esports claims the victory with Erin "Yopaj" Ferrer’s Kunkka having 10 kills and 14 assists while not dying once.
Boom Esports vs BetBoom Team: Match Recap
With one game away from qualifying for TI11 Main Event playoffs, Boom Esports were looking to prove the doubters wrong as they faced BetBoom Team in its final tiebreaker match.
BetBoom decided to go for stability for its draft, as it picked Sniper for Nikita "Daxak" Kuzmin and Pangolier for Denis "Larl" Sigitov while Boom Esports drafted Faceless Void, Zeus and Enigma as its core lineup.
Boom Esports had full control of the map during the laning phase as the team were playing extremely well in contrast to its performance during the past few days. Despite BetBoom’s attempt to defend its base and Daxak’s Divine Rapier pickup, it was not enough as Boom Esports managed to claim the victory in just over 50 minutes.
Following the victory, Boom Esports became the final team to qualify for the TI11 Main Event playoffs in Group A as it eliminated both Soniqs and Betboom from the tournament. The team will face either Team Spirit or Fnatic in the Lower Bracket of the Main Event playoffs.
