Highlights
The final day of the TI11 Group Stage saw Boom Esports going up against the top team of the group stage: Evil Geniuses.
Despite all odds, Boom Esports managed to defeat EG 2-0 and force a three-way tiebreaker.
The team will now play in a tiebreaker against Soniqs and BetBoom Team, in which only one will survive to compete in the playoffs.

Boom Esports managed to perform when it needed it most as it secured its first 2-0 in the group stage after defeating Evil Geniuses. The Southeast Asian (SEA) team were staring at an early elimination from The International 2022 (TI11) after a lackluster performance in the Group Stage. To add further pressure, it needed favorable results from another series to force a tiebreaker even if it won against EG.

However, despite all odds Boom Esports managed to defeat Evil Geniuses 2-0 and forced a three-way tiebreaker.

Boom Esports vs EG: Match recap

While Evil Geniuses already had secured the top seed and upper bracket qualification, Boom Esports were fighting for their tournaments lives as a 2-0 win would put them in a position for tiebreakers against Soniqs.

However, the SEA team would have to hope for the best as it would also need Gaimin Gladiators to defeat Soniqs 2-0 to secure a tiebreaker.

Game One

Evil Geniuses started off its draft by picking up Pudge, Invoker and Primal Beast as its core line. On the other side, Boom Esports drafted a rather aggressive lineup as it picked up Bristleback, Leshrac and Enigma.

While the laning phase was relatively quiet, the mid game had all the action as Boom Esports started to pick up momentum with Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong’s Bristleback and Erin "Yopaj" Ferrer’s Leshrac leading the frontline. Despite EG’s attempts to delay the game, Boom Esports claimed Game One after 39 minutes.

Game Two

Boom Esports started its Game Two draft by retaining both the Bristleback and Enigma for JaCkky and Saieful “Fbz” Ilham while EG went with Naga Siren for Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and Primal Beast for Abed “Abed” Yusop.

While the laning phase went well for Boom Esports, the mid game saw Boom Esports unable to claim objectives as EG managed to delay the game long enough for Arteezy’s Naga Siren to hit his late-game potential.

Boom Esports managed to hold strong and made the comeback with Fbz’s Enigma catching multiple EG heroes in his Black Hole at the end to secure the 2-0 over Evil Geniuses.

Following the victory, Boom Esports will be competing in a 3-way tiebreaker against BetBoom and Soniqs to determine the two teams that will be eliminated from the tournament.
