Coach Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung of BOOM Esports explained the situation of their roster, which has been looking for a fifth and final player for some time. Mushi stated that they were seeking a position five player, but Rolen Andrei Gabriel "skem" Ong, who has been playing as the safelaner recently, decided to play the position five role. As a result, BOOM Esports had to finalize their roster with a safelaner, and Mushi mentioned that they already had found one who will join them after the current BTS Pro Series S9: Southeast Asia tournament is over.
BOOM Esports’ fifth player will join the team after the BTS Pro Series S9, says Mushi
In the last few weeks, BOOM Esports has been using a number of stand-ins because of the absence of a fifth player. Originally, in the BTS Pro Series S9, Filipino Dota 2 player Abeng "Abeng" Dicdican had filled in for the position five role; however, he was later replaced by Mushi as the safelaner.
As a result of this change, skem, who played as the carry when Abeng was in the position five role, switched to the position five role when Mushi joined as the carry.
During Mushi's winner's interview following BOOM Esports' win against Motivate.Trust Gaming in the BTS Pro Series S9, he mentioned that skem would continue to play as soft support in future games and practice in the role. Furthermore, Mushi explained, the vacant role of position one would be filled by a new player who will be announced after the BTS Pro Series S9. Till then, Mushi would play as BOOM Esports' safelaner.
So, BOOM Esports' Dota 2 roster will consist of:
TBA
Erin Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer
Saieful "Fbz" Ilham
Timothy John "Tims" Randrup
Rolen Andrei Gabriel "skem" Ong
During BTS Pro Series S9, BOOM Esports has been on a dominating streak, having not lost a single series. After finishing top of the group stage with five wins and three draws, it gained direct entry into the playoffs. After winning both playoff matches against Nigma Galaxy SEA and Motivate.Trust Gaming, the team now finds itself in the grand final.
On 14th Nov, 2021, the grand final of the BTS Pro Series S8 will be held, and the roster lock date for the first regional league of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 has been set for 21st Nov. So, the next week will bring the announcement of BOOM Esports’ fifth member.
Unfortunately for the organization, despite having some of the best players in the region, it will be competing in the Lower Division of the first Southeast Asian regional league in DPC 2021-22.
