BOOM Esports and T1 have been heavily penalized for using stand-ins during the SEA Regional Finals. T1 used two stand-ins while BOOM Esports used one during the event.
As the winner of the Regional Finals, BOOM Esports was supposed to earn 250 DPC points, however, it was penalized by 40% and received 150 points. T1, as the runner-up of the Regional Finals, received only 46.8 points in place of the original 130 points.
If T1 and BOOM Esports officially make roster changes, there is likely to be more deduction in points for both teams.

Update (17th Feb 2022): In a tweet, Beyond the Summit (BTS) revealed that T1 was not authorized to use Karl "Karl" Matthew Baldovino's stand-in in the fourth game since it was already using Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon's stand-in, but BTS made an “administrative error” by allowing the team to do so. Since BTS made the error, the 40% deduction in DPC points resulting from Karl's stand-in had been reversed.

BOOM Esports and T1, the grand finalists of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Southeast Asia (SEA) 2021-22 Regional Finals, have been docked a heavy amount of DPC points for playing with stand-ins in the event. As the winner of the Regional Finals, BOOM Esports was supposed to earn 250 DPC points, however, it was penalized by 40% and received 150 points. T1, as the runner-up of the Regional Finals, received only 46.8 points in place of the original 130 points. BOOM Esports used a single stand-in, while T1 had to rely on two for the event.

BOOM Esports and T1 face a massive deduction in DPC points earned during the Regional Finals

With the Tour 1 Regional League victory that netted it 300 DPC points, BOOM Esports entered the Regional Finals with Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong standing in for Justine Ryan Evangelista "Tino" Grimaldo, who had been moved to the inactive roster.

While playing with a stand-in, BOOM Esports once again emerged as the region's best team, beating T1 to win the Regional Finals along with 250 DPC points. However, as per Valve’s rules, “Any team that competes in a Major tournament with a sub will incur a 40% penalty on DPC Points earned from that tournament” which meant that BOOM Esports only gained 150 points, taking its total to 450.

Meanwhile, T1 was third in the Tour 1 Regional League and earned 120 points. As with BOOM Esports, T1 also had a substitute in the safe lane with Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte Santos replacing Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon, who was moved to the inactive roster.

Unfortunately, the team’s midlaner Karl "Karl" Matthew Baldovino faced technical difficulties during game four against BOOM Esports in the grand final, and Polaris Esports' Mc Nicholson "Lelouch-" Villanueva filled in. Although T1 lost the grand final, it still won 130 DPC points. However, the actual points added to its total were drastically reduced. The team initially received a 40% deduction on 130 points for 23savage's replacement (130-52=78) and then received another 40% deduction on 78 points for Karl's replacement (78-31.2=46.8). As a result, T1 received a whopping 64% deduction in points earned during the Regional Finals. The total points for the team currently stand at 166.8.

Despite the reduction in points, BOOM Esports continues to lead the DPC points rankings with 450 points, followed by Gladiators and Team Liquid at 430 points each. T1, on the other hand, is placed 14th on the table.

BOOM Esports and T1 will likely face more deduction in DPC points

BOOM Esports and T1 are likely to be penalized further than just the deduction of points during Regional Finals. As per Valve’s rules, “Any player removals will incur a 15% penalty to all DPC Point earned at the time of removal. There is no penalty for adding a new player.”

Consequently, if BOOM Esports makes the official announcement of JaCkky replacing Tino, the team will lose 15% of its 450 points, bringing its total to 382.5. Meanwhile, in the event T1 officially replaces 23savage with Gabbi, it will lose 25.02 points, bringing its total to 141.78.

It will be interesting to see what roster the two teams finalize for Tour 2 of the DPC 2021-22, which kicks off in March.
