Popular Dota 2 player Artour "Arteezy" Babaev ignited discussions recently by shifting his streaming services from Twitch to Kick at the start of November. During a recent Kick livestream, Arteezy compared his experiences on Kick and Twitch, noting that he feels a more positive atmosphere on Kick.
He described the Twitch community as "super negative" with a "sh***y culture." Despite Arteezy’s viewership numbers peaking at 16,000 viewers, he looked past the figure. He called the whole experience of streaming on this relatively new platform more “positive.”
Arteezy Says Streaming on Kick Has Been Fun
Arteezy shared his sentiments, stating, “I'm glad it's been chill, it's been fun to stream on Kick. Compared to Twitch, I feel a lot more positive vibe in general. People are nicer. Twitch is just super negative; I have to pretend nothing exists. This year, I haven't got that many viewers – the most I got is 16,000. It definitely has to do with more viewers, but I also think it's just like a sh***y culture. Maybe it's my fault, maybe I don't know, but just sad there, not as happy times."
Arteezy, in an earlier stream, said that he wanted to stream on Kick because it would be a much more enjoyable experience, and players in his pub would not stream snipe him
However, Arteezy’s transition from Twitch to Kick has not been without controversy. The streamer, predominantly known for his Dota 2 content, has also started streaming casino and slot games on Kick. This recently raised eyebrows among some of his loyal Dota 2 fans.
A Reddit post titled “This is so sad to see man" featuring a screenshot from one of Arteezy's Kick streams gained traction, receiving 3000 upvotes.
Some fans on Reddit expressed disappointment at Arteezy's inclusion of gambling content on Kick. Another prominent Dota 2 streamer Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski chimed in on this issue and provided a different perspective. He noted that the controversy might serve as effective advertising for Arteezy.
Gorgc stated, “It's actually kind of funny how good advertisement this is because people who will hate Arteezy for gambling, now they will hate him anyway. But the people who like gambling and that kind of stuff, they're going to watch him more. So he's just getting paid either way. The haters just don't win, as long as he doesn't care. It doesn't matter. It's actually a W [win] for him that he gets called out on Reddit. That's kind of crazy."
Arteezy, who amassed an impressive 770,000 followers on Twitch since he began streaming in November 2016, announced his move to Kick on Twitter on 8th November 2023.
