As the 2024 Dota 2 competitive season looms around the corner, teams across different regions are scrambling to get their rosters set. One of the biggest announcements last week was Xtreme Gaming from China signing legendary player Wang "Ame" Chunyu to its roster. Now, several days later, the community has some exciting news regarding Xtreme Gaming. Several rumors and leaks have shared what seems to be the potential full lineup for XG in 2024.
On 22nd December, English Dota 2 commentator Benjamin "Bkop" Kopilow took to X to reportedly confirm the new roster for Xtreme Gaming featuring three Azure Ray players. Likewise, Twitter user CN Dota In A Nutshell, renowned for sharing news and stories from the Chinese region, posted a statement reportedly from Zhao "XinQ" Zixing who confirmed the rumors.
Xtreme Gaming’s New Roster Leaked
Wang "Ame" Chunyu might finally have a full team to play with as new leaks suggest that three players from Azure Ray may transfer to Xtreme Gaming in the coming days.
Bkop wrote on Twitter, “So yea it's looking pretty confirmed Xtreme Gaming will be: Ame, Xm, Xxs, XinQ, Dy.”
Furthering this, according to translations provided by CN Dota In A Nutshell, XinQ reportedly said, “As far as I know things will go, as we planned before, which probably means me, Xxs and Xm will leave AR[Azure Ray] to join XG [Xtreme Gaming].”
He further added, “Even though we never talked about it in public, everyone involved in it all knows that we will make this change after ESL One Kuala Lumpur [2023].”
If the rumors are true, then Xtreme Gaming’s roster would be as follows:
Wang "Ame" Chunyu
Guo "Xm" Hongcheng
Lin "Xxs" Jing
Zhao "XinQ" Zixing
Ding "Dy" Cong
Notably, Dy was already a part of Xtreme Gaming before Ame was signed to the roster on 11th December.
The three Azure Ray players leaving for Xtreme Gaming would mean that Azure Ray would be left with an incomplete roster, leaving only Lou "Lou" Zhen and Jiang "天命" An on the team. Azure Ray managed to pull off a miraculous reverse sweep at the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 grand finals and defeated Gaimin Gladiators for the title. It brought a trophy home for the Chinese region which hadn’t tasted success since LGD Gaming’s win at the Riyadh Masters 2022.
Since these roster changes have not yet been officially confirmed, fans should take this information with a pinch of salt.
