SumaiL’s stand-in time with Team Liquid has come to an end just weeks before they compete in the TI10 Regional Qualifiers. Team Liquid’s coach William "Blitz" Lee has announced that offlaner Samuel "Boxi" Svahn will be returning to the team for the upcoming TI10 Europe Qualifiers. Boxi stepped down from the active roster on April 23, 2021, while the EU 2021  DPC Season 2: Upper Division was underway, citing personal reasons. From then on, Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan had been standing in for Team Liquid. Blitz stated that Boxi was ready to resume playing after taking a brief break and thanked SumaiL for his contributions to Team Liquid.

Blitz mentioned that there had been speculation that they were testing the better player between Boxi and SumaiL, but he clarified that it wasn't true.

In addition, Blitz said that Team Liquid's results were not due to SumaiL, adding that they would cheer for him on whichever new team he joined.

Image Via Blitz's TwitterBoxi had left Team Liquid in April after playing a couple of DPC series. Since then, SumaiL played as the stand-in midlaner with regular midlaner, Max "qojqva" Bröcker switching to the offlane.

Though the team had shone in the DPC league and was considered to be an even better version with SumaiL’s addition, it massively faltered at the WePlay AniMajor. Individual performances were lackluster, while teamfight execution looked out of sorts. Liquid was one of the two teams who got eliminated from the group stage.

Qojqva will now likely return to midlane while Boxi will likely return to his traditional offlane position. The TI10 EU qualifiers are scheduled for July 7-10 so the team will have nearly a month to find its mojo and find the winning ways. They are going to go up against some of the best teams in the region like OG, Tundra Esports, and even Team Nigma if they fail to secure enough DPC points for a TI10 slot at the ongoing AniMajor.

Though it was being predicted that SumaiL may stick with Team Liquid as far as TI10, it is seemingly not the case. He now has a very little team to find a new team to participate in the qualifiers and then qualify for TI10. Since no tier-1 team in the EU or NA is currently missing a midlaner, SumaiL may not be able to find a suitable team in time for the TI10 qualifiers.
