WePlay AniMajor wild card recap

There was a lot of talk about the wild card being a competition between the EU and China, with little hope from Execration and AS Monaco Gambit, but each team showed tremendous talent and Dota 2 gameplay execution.

Vici Gaming ended the wild card as the topper with two series wins and three draws. On the first day, they were greatly contested but on the second day, they manhandled Invictus Gaming and AS Monaco Gambit to take 2-0 wins. In addition to looking in sublime form, their players will be high on confidence after winning back-to-back series.

Team Nigma is certainly giving glimpses of its old self. KuroKy and his teammates appear to be an improved version of what they were in the second DPC season, with iLTW showing signs of consistency. Miracle-, GH, and MinD_ContRoL delivered MVP performances that they have become renowned for. Nigma plays the early game incredibly fast, making great rotations, and then leverages that momentum to win matches.

Invictus Gaming barely missed out on the group stage spot but the team was seemingly missing its position five player, Oli. Coach super was a superb stand-in but he seemingly did not have a very diverse hero pool. Overall, the team still looked strong with Emo and JT- delivering some game-changing performances.

The inconsistency in Team Secret’s play from the second DPC season continued with them not being able to take a single series win in the wild card. With four draws in five series, in the end, they didn't seem comprehensive overall, but they did deliver some great performances as always. With a TI10 spot secured, Puppey and his teammates are not going to be bothered much.

Both AS Monaco Gambit and Execration put admirable performances in the wild card of the Major despite being relatively inexperienced squads. Some of their matches demonstrated their potential as they absolute smashed their opponents, but eventually, the other teams appeared to be in better shape and were the leading contenders for the top two slots.
