With the final week of the DPC season underway. Chinese teams, Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD secure crucial wins for themselves in the Upper Division. iG defeated EHOME 2-0 and saved themselves from getting relegated to the Lower Division and earning a guaranteed 50 DPC points for their placement which pushes their total points to 1050, hence qualifying for TI10. Whereas PSG.LGD secured their spot at the Major with a convincing 2-0 victory over RNG. With this win, iG joins the current teams qualified for TI10, Evil Geniuses (EG), and Virtus.pro. And PSG.LGD joins Team Aster in qualifying for the WePlay Major. iG, despite securing a spot at TI, is not guaranteed to qualify for the WePlay Major.

iG and PSG.LGD take crucial wins and qualifications for tournaments

Invictus Gaming finished first last season and won the Singapore Major, securing them 1000 DPC points. Their performance this season has become a bit lackluster with the other teams like Aster and PSG.LGD stepping up their game. Their series against EHOME was their last, and iG end the season with a 4-3 W-L score putting them currently at fourth place. Elephant is the only other contender for fourth place with a 3-3 W-L score and one series remaining. Elephant will face Team Aster on the 21st of May, 2021, and if Elephant loses, iG will have a fourth-place secured and qualify for the WePlay Major.

PSG.LGD ended the last season tied for fourth place with Elephant and played a tiebreaker against Elephant, which they won, to secure a wild card slot at the Singapore Major, where they secured a third-place finish. This season, PSG.LGD has shown to be one of the stronger teams. Second only to first-place Team Aster. Their series against RNG was also their last one of the season, finishing with a 5-2 W-L score and secure their qualification to the WePlay Major.

There are only two series left in the Chinese DPC season two Upper Division on the 21st of May, 2021. Vici Gaming(VG) plays bottom-last team Sparkling Arrow Gaming(SAG) and first place team Aster will play Elephant.

If VG wins their matchup, they also have a 5-2 score and tie for second place with PSG.LGD. And if Team Aster loses to Elephant, they will also have a 5-2 score, leaving us with a massive three-way tiebreaker for first to third place. Elephant will also then be tied for fourth place with iG. These last two matchups of the season have the potential to throw the whole top four into chaos and we are excited for it. Are you?
