T1 seems to have found their footing in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division as they have secured back-to-back victories against two in-form teams. After they had registered a massive win against TNC Predator last week, they managed to outdo Execration 2-1 in a hard-fought series on May 8, 2021. While the first two games turned out to be one-sided affairs as both teams were flawless, a close final game ended in T1’s favor as they were relatively cleaner in their performance. T1 has now jumped from the fifth to the second spot in the points table with three wins and two losses. On the other hand, Execration is placed at the third spot with three wins and three losses.

Recap
Game 1 witnessed an immaculate performance by T1 as all their heroes played in the right way. Leaving 23savage on the safer spots to farm his items, T1 made excellent moves around the map to take down enemy heroes. They gradually built a massive advantage and ended the game in 31 minutes.
Game 2 saw T1 getting outdone by the last pick Slark for Palos. He was put in the mid lane against Karl’s Batrider and also had favorable matchups against other enemy heroes. Execration was aggressive and played fast, minimizing the map for their enemies to farm. Another clean performance, this time from Execration, secured them the victory in 32 minutes.
Game 3 saw a back and forth contest as both teams had their fair share of winning moments in the first 30 minutes. However, T1 outplayed Execration in a crucial teamfight at the 35-minute mark which led the former to an easy Roshan kill. Things went downhill for Execration as they could never stand toe to toe against the enemies, losing the game in 50 minutes.

Interview: T1 Whitemon talks about 23savage’s playstyle
23savage and Karl have had some flashy and bold moves in the tournament while the support duo for T1, Whitemon and Xepher, have been comparatively disciplined in their gameplay. Answering a question in the post-match winners’ interview that asked Whitemon if he was doubtful at times if 23savage would be able to carry the games, considering he makes some risky moves, he said,
“Yeah, when he is down, our coach cools him down and our coach works for him if it’s like.. Sometimes he dies like sloppy right but our coach cools him down. Yeah.”
