  • JerAx has communicated via a Twitter post that he will be returning to Dota 2 but unfortunately for his fans, it will not be a competitive comeback.
  • More details about this return would be revealed on JerAx's livestream on March 27, 2021, at 12:00 pm CET( 7:00 pm SGT).
  • JerAx had departed from OG's active roster and retired from competitive Dota 2 in January 2020.

OG JerAx, who retired from the Dota 2 professional scene in January 2020, has announced a return to Dota 2. Unfortunately for his fans, the two-time TI champion is not making a comeback to competitive play. Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka, who continues to be an OG member even after retirement, communicated this through a Twitter post, stating that he would reveal more details about this return on his livestream (most likely Twitch) on March 27, 2021, at 12:00 pm CET( 7:00 pm SGT). The player's Dota 2 resurgence statement comes after a lengthy public absence, as we last saw him streaming almost six months ago.

OG JerAx to make a comeback to Dota 2 but will not play professionally.

The Finnish retired professional player hilariously mentioned that he was planning to play the new Dota 2 tutorial (recently launched by SirActionSlacks) as he might be needing it.

JerAx’s retirement in January 2020 had been a shocker move for his fans as he had cited a desire to pursue a new career and loss of passion for Dota 2 as the reasons for it.

“I have no willingness nor passion to play Dota 2 anymore, and I have trouble fitting myself into my competitor’s shoes. For me the decision to pursue another direction is clear, and I have no doubts about it.”

The Finnish player has not played on his Dota 2 account ever since. In fact, his last Dota 2 game on his public profile was at TI9. He last streamed the FPS game, Valorant, a number of times in September 2020. He used to communicate via Twitter whenever he came live on Twitch.

This statement by the two-time TI champion and former OG support player has come at a time when the team is struggling to find form and success in the competitive scene. They had a rough time in the recently concluded EU 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division as they failed to make the cut for the first DPC Major after a 14 months’ hiatus. As a consequence of this disappointing finish, the team recently announced the departure of carry player, Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng, from the roster. However, Saksa, who had replaced JerAx, continues to be a part of the team's roster.

In his OG farewell blog, the organization had stated, “Fear not OGs, JerAx will leave the active roster but will remain as a member of OG. Once in the fam, always in the fam.” So, there is a chance that the player’s return will be in connection with the team.
