The Mongolian squad of Lilgun has registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Yangon Galacticos in the last group stage series of the SEA DPC 2021 Season 1: Lower Division. In a league where top tier 2 teams like Cignal Ultra, Galaxy Racer and star-studded stacks of HOYO and ZeroTwo were playing, nobody had expected that a considerably unknown squad from Mongolia, Lilgun, would transcend all of them and qualify for the Upper Division.

Lilgun had not even able to win the open qualifiers in its regular phase. After VISdota, the winner of the Open Qualifier #4 was disqualified for using a banned player, Lilgun replaced them by winning the 3rd place decider in the Open Qualifier #4. They were proceeded to stage 2 of the closed qualifier where they secured themselves a spot in the Lower Division.

Lilgun had a terrible start to their Lower Division run as they lost both their initial matches to Galaxy Racer and ZeroTwo. The Mongolian squad then went on to win all of their five remaining series, beating Cignal Ultra, Army Geniuses, Omega Esports, HOYO and finally Yangon Galacticos.

Though Lilgun and Omega Esports have the same W-L record, Lilgun’s head to head win against Omega grants them the first place berth. They take home a sum of $17,000 USD while Omega wins $16,000.
