  • Evil Geniuses is currently undefeated in NA 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division with four wins in four series.

Evil Geniuses’ (EG) carry player, Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, talked about the lessons he had learned as a carry player over the past years in a post-match winners’ interview. After their victory over team Undying in the NA 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division last night, Arteezy mentioned that though he was always a skilled player in the laning phase, he did not become better at the other aspects of the game. Arteezy stated that he would ask his younger self, who played the game around three-four years ago, to focus more on team fighting and how the hero and spell interactions work, apart from being centered only on the laning stage.

Arteezy talks about the things he did wrong as a young carry player

Evil Geniuses registered a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Dubu’s squad, Undying, the previous night.

After the win, Arteezy talked about what he did wrong in the early days of his Dota 2 career, mentioning that he had now learned a lesson and improved on it as a carry player.

“Think about teamfights. I think when I was younger, a lot of times, I kind of relied on my laning skill, and I didn’t really get better at other aspects of the game. Eventually, when people started to get better in lane, I had this period of time where I didn’t play that well, or things felt wrong for me. I used to always start the early game with a lead. That’s how I played it later. I would always be ahead no matter what the lane or the situation, I would always be ahead. But nowadays I have got a lot of time to think about other aspects of the game and still improve my laning.

But I would probably say to my younger self to focus on teamfighting and how like heroes interact, how spells work with each other, like think about stuff like bum rushing up a hill to what is the best way to reach up the hill, stuff like that because I really didn’t think about it when I was younger.”
