Hype matches to watch this weekend of the 2021 DPC season 1

1. TNC Predator vs Neon Esports

When to watch- 4:00 pm SGT, Saturday, January 30, 2021

Where to watch- PGL’s official Twitch channel

What to expect- A hot battle between two Filipino giants.

On one side, you have TNC Predator, widely considered one of the premier SEA teams but has had a rusty start to their DPC campaign. They lost their opening series to Execration, which came as a shock to their fans but came back strongly in their series against Vice Esports, convincingly beating them 2-0.

On the other side, Neon Esports, who has been the team to beat in the SEA tier 2 circuit, has brought that confidence to the Tier 1 scene as they have won both their series in the Upper Division of the SEA Regional League against BOOM Esports and 496 Gaming. On a roll, the all Filipino squad will be a tough challenge for TNC.

Match favorite- TNC Predator

2. Vikin.gg vs Team Secret

When to watch- 1:00 am SGT, Sunday, January 31, 2021

Where to watch- DreamLeague’s official Twitch channel

What to expect- Team Secret’s impeccable Dota 2 gameplay and Vikin.gg’s bid to dethrone the best in the business.

Vikin.gg has shown a high level of resilience and diligence to reach the European Tier 1 scene which makes them one of the teams to look out for in this 2021 DPC season. They lost their opening series against Team Liquid in the tournament and though may still be the underdogs in the matchup against Team Secret, nobody can count them out as they have had inflicted a fair share of upsets in the past.

Team Secret’s results in the past year speak volumes of where they stand in the Dota 2 circuit currently. Despite incurring a small dip in performance lately, they are still considered as the top contender to win EU-DPC 2021 S1. They have played a solitary series in the tournament where they defeated Tundra Esports 2-1.

Match favorites- Team Secret

3. OG vs Alliance

When to watch- 3:55 am SGT, Sunday, January 31, 2021

Where to watch- DreamLeague’s Official Twitch channel

What to expect- High octane Dota 2 action with constant teamfighting and intriguing drafts.

OG’s boat is sailing smoothly on the route to their third International victory, defeating Tundra Esports and High Coast Esports. However, some more challenging games await them with the first one coming against Alliance on Sunday. It will be exciting to see what drafting and item build antics they have up their sleeves.

Alliance had the upper hand over the two-time TI champions in their faceoffs in 2020 and will be interesting to witness if they continue the tradition in 2021. However, a recent dip in form combined with the loss against Nigma in the debut match puts them in the back seat in the series against OG.

Match favorites- OG

4. EHOME vs Invictus Gaming

When to watch- 4:00 pm SGT, Sunday, January 31, 2021

Where to watch- Perfect World’s official Twitch channel

What to expect- An intense Chinese x Malaysian faceoff

EHOME has been one of the top teams in the region after the Mega Chinese Roster Shuffle culminated in November 2020.  Sccc’s exit from the team recently may be a deterrent in finishing in the top 4, but Ahjit has proven over the years that he is a worthy carry player. They won their solo series in the tournament against Team MagMa.

On the contrary, Invictus Gaming has taken a sharp fall after the Mega Chinese Roster Shuffle as they finished in the bottom spots in almost all the Tier 1 Chinese tournaments. However, they showcased their true potential by defeating Elephant’s star-studded lineup in their first series and can also hand another upset by defeating EHOME on Sunday.

Match favorites- EHOME

5. Quincy Crew vs 4 Zoomers

When to watch- 4:00 am, Monday, February 1, 2021

Where to Watch- Beyond the Summit’s official Twitch channel

What to expect- An emotional and passionate battle for the second-best in NA

Quincy Crew has been the Raidboss of the NA Dota 2 scene in the absence of EG, having won eight tournaments in a row in 2020. They stomped 5ManMidas in their debut series of NA-DPC 2021 S1 and look all set to rule the region with one of the most individually skilled players in the scene.

4 Zoomers with a young group of players, has shown its capability by remaining at the top in the region in the past year. They lost to EG in their first series but came back strongly against A-Team in the second one. Quincy Crew has always been their most formidable opponent, so it will be interesting to see if they start off 2021 with a change and defeat the Raidboss of NA.

Match favorites- Quincy Crew
