Evil Geniuses (EG) has marked its return to the professional Dota 2 scene with a bang, having won both of their initial series in the Upper Division of the NA-DPC 2021 S1. After their win over Sadboys yesterday, Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, in the post-match winners’ interview, talked about the team’s atmosphere while playing with Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang.

Arteezy Talks About the Fun He Has While Playing With iceiceice
Evil Geniuses’ latest recruit in the offlane role, iceiceice, is one of the most exuberant personalities in the pro-Dota 2 scene. He shows his jolly nature during interviews and streams on Twitch.
Popular Dota 2 caster, SUNSfan, asked Arteezy about how it felt having iceiceice on the team, mentioning a couple of instances from the third game of the series where iceicece was able to show some insane plays on his offlane Tidehunter.
“It’s just really funny. Even the games that we struggle with, like they are just kind of hilarious to play, like especially his Legion game (Game 2 of EG vs 4 Zoomers where iceiceice had a tough game), he told us right away that he is going to play 10 Legion games after. It’s just all good vibes it feels like so we are always in high spirits even in dark times.”
Iceiceice had not only canceled a Blackhole in the third game of the series, which could have potentially killed Arteezy’s Morphling with an unconventional Abyssal Blade pickup on an offlane Tidehunter. He had also killed the enemy safe laner, Fear’s Juggernaut, with a splendid combination of Abyssal Blade and the new neutral item, Psychic Headband.
Despite grabbing victories in both of their series, Evil Geniuses could not win them clean enough. Arteezy was asked if the reason for the same was EG needing some time to warm up and sort out their chemistry or if their opponents delivered some strong performances.
He stated that it was a combination of both as he felt that the teams in NA usually come out with a “unique strategy” that is different from what they face on LANs against top teams like Vici Gaming. This he felt made it more challenging for them to adjust against NA teams while also mentioning that he played poorly in the series and needed more warmup games than usual.

After their solid start to the 2021 DPC campaign, EG will have some days off before they return to action on January 28 when they play against Black N Yellow. Arguably the most hyped match in the NA region would be between EG and Quincy Crew, which will occur in February 2021.
