  • Dota 2 commentators/analysts, BSJ and Fogged, have been denied entry into Europe where they had to cast the 2021 DPC season of EU and CIS.
  • Both of them have returned to the United States and will likely be casting the matches from home.
  • The Regional League in both the CIS and EU region is to last for nearly 40 days, beginning January 18.

Two of the most acclaimed Dota 2 commentators and analysts, Brian "BSJ/BananaSlamJamma" Canavan and Ioannis "Fogged" Loucas have been denied entry into Europe. BSJ And Fogged Likely To Cast DPC 2021 S1 From Home After Getting Sent Back From Europe

The news that the two Dota 2 commentators were rejected entry into Europe first broke when BSJ himself posted a Tweet about this. He stated that after being refused entry into Europe, he was likely going to return home.

Soon after, Fogged retweeted BSJ’s tweet stating that he would keep the latter’s company.

Earlier today, both of them confirmed that they had returned to the United States.

A Reddit thread emerged where an ESL and DreamHack staff member posted an update on the situation.

“Mike/Adebisi from DreamHack / ESL here. This is very sad news of course, to be transparent to the community, we’ve been in close contact with the Swedish police and border agency regarding bringing in folks internationally for this production. The government from our communication has said that what we are operating is within the protocols and allowed, (everyone traveling is also having a COVID test before traveling, upon arrival, etc), however all travel will be determined at the border by the border police, pre-approval or pre-denial cannot be fully given, only judged at the border. Unfortunately Fogged and BSJ were not let in. We’re going to make sure they get home safely first and foremost, and then figure how we would proceed. Fortunately Cap, Sheever, ODPixel and Moxxi had no issues. Safety is our number one priority and we’ll definitely aim to include them in the show whether they can fully be on-site in our studio location or not.”

According to the statement by this ESL staff member, Fogged and BSJ are going to be a part of the casting crew regardless of whether or not they are able to reach Sweden. Since the Regional League is beginning in a couple of days, both these commentators will likely be broadcasting from home.

BSJ and Fogged are a part of the eight-member broadcast talent that will be casting the DPC games of the first season in the EU and the CIS region.

  1. Brian "BSJ" Canavan
  2. Ioannis "Fogged" Loucas
  3. Kevin "Purge" Godec
  4. Kyle "Kyle" Freedman
  5. Austin "Capitalist" Walsh
  6. Jorien "Sheever" van der Heijden
  7. Owen "ODPixel" Davies
  8. Michelle "Moxxi" Song

In addition, Rikard 'skrff' Holm Melin and Jonathan "PimpmuckL" Liebig are two observers for the EU and CIS regions.

Kyle just recently posted an update where he has reached Sweden.
