The long-awaited 2021 DPC season’s onset has not been a rosy one for both the players and the tournament operators. This time, the DPC Regional League’s organizer in SEA, PGL, has come under fire for reportedly not intending to have any official coverage of the Lower Division in the SEA region.

PGL Might Not Broadcast The Lower Division Of SEA-DPC 2021 S1

The issue regarding the Lower Division’s official coverage emerged when a Twitter user, @CorruptDropbear stated that the Lower Division would not be getting any broadcast by the tournament operators in each of the six regions. He mentioned that similar to open qualifiers, anyone in the community could cast these games and be unpaid.

However, several Dota 2 personalities replied to this tweet, mentioning that there will be proper coverage of the Lower Divisions and that the casters would also be paid for their services.

Co-founder of Beyond the Summit (TO behind NA-DPC), David "GoDz" Parker, further replied that all of the Lower Division matches in North America will have paid casters.

Dropbear | Mitchel then tweeted that all the regions would have official coverage for their Lower Divisions except for SEA.

Famous SEA Dota commentator, John "johnxfire" Nathan Fernandez, tweeted that he was being approached to cast a “VALVE SANCTIONED DPC LEAGUE’ for free.

According to him, tournament operators (potentially PGL) are contacting casters who can cast cover the Lower Division matches in the SEA-DPC league on their own channels without any financial benefits.

SEA Will Likely Be the Only Region to Not Have Official Coverage for DPC Lower Division

PGL is yet to make any official statements on the same. If the allegations relating to this matter are accurate and all regions except SEA will have official coverage.
