  • Gambit eine accidentally abandons the match against NiP at EPIC League at the 51-minute mark.
  • Gambit played the rest of the match 4v5 but still win it because of a Divine Rapier pick by their carry DyrachYO on Morphling.
  • The accidental abandon is likely to be a bug that leads to abandoning instead of quitting the game.

In what was turning out to be a taxing match for the sides of Gambit Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas at the EPIC League Division 2, an unexpected thing happened at the 51st-minute mark as the support player for Gambit, eine, accidentally abandoned the match. However, Gambit Esports still managed to win the game, thanks to a Divine Rapier pick from their carry, DyrachYO.

Gambit eine Accidentally Abandons A Pro Match

Gambit Esports faced Ninjas in Pyjamas in the first match of EPIC League Division 2 on November 23. The first map seemed to be going in Gambit’s favour as they had a sizable gold advantage of 11k plus mega creeps on NiP’s top barracks. While Gambit was retreating from the mid lane as all of their players had 0 mana because of an enemy Phantom Lancer, the game was paused by the side of Gambit due to fps related issues. As their players reconnected to the server, their offlaner, meLes, broke out the news that teal (eine on Omniknight) had accidentally abandoned. He further asked in all chat if they could play as 4 and would be able to micro eine’s hero. NiP conveyed that they were okay with it and though the admins did not write anything. Gambit Esports received a green signal from the admins and the game was unpaused at Gambit Esports now had to play 4v5.

However, in a bid to push the tier 4 towers and eventually end the game, Gambit’s carry player DyrachYO purchased a Divine Rapier. All of Gambit’s heroes collectively pushed the mid lane, emerged as the winner of a chaotic teamfight as they micro played the Omniknight and took down the Ancient to pull off a stunning win.

Where at one stage, Gambit would have been left nonplussed by eine’s facepalm mistake, they were able to hold their nerves to end a game they deserved to win.

Though there was no communication from Gambit Esports as to how eine accidentally pressed the abandon button, there is a high chance it was caused due to a bug. There is a bug in which after you disconnect from a game and press the ‘Power Button’ on the top right corner, it shows the ‘Abandon Prompt’ instead of the 'Quit Game' prompt. Players are in a habit of pressing ‘Yes’ in the motion but, unfortunately, they get removed from the server.

A similar type of incident occurred in a professional NA game between CR4ZY and 4 Zoomers. Dota 2 analyst, syndereN, also encountered the same bug in a pub match.
