One of the most popular and successful Dota 2 captains in history is making his return to competitive Dota 2 at the Dota Summit 13: NA Open Qualifiers. TI5 champion Peter "PPD" Dager announced his return to competitive Dota 2 on his Twitter id, stating that he would be competing at the upcoming DOTA Summit 13: North America Open Qualifier.

PPD’s Return to Competitive Dota 2

Earlier in September 2020, PPD stated that he was considering making a comeback to competitive Dota 2.

“I have been thinking about coming back to Dota to be completely honest with you. But I think I am just going to do what Fear is doing, and just chill out and see where things are at in like January.

We’ll see what it looks like. We’ll see what the NA scene looks like, what kind of tournaments are popping up, shit like that and maybe it’ll happen. 2020 has been a crazy year guys”

Following this, earlier today, the player announced that he will be playing in the DOTA Summit 13: North America Open Qualifier and revealed his team featuring the likes of dnm, boris and more.

The team has been dubbed ‘Throne’ according to the open brackets on Faceit and its full roster is:

  • Carry: David “DNM” Cossio
  • Mid: Jose “esk” Coronel
  • Offlaner: Daniel “dyun” Yun
  • Soft Support: Noah "Boris" Minhas
  • Hard Support: Peter “PPD” Dager

On his stream, PPD also revealed that NA carry Mason "mason" Venne was asked to be a part of this team. However, the latter did not respond to PPD’s invite.

PPD has also stated that he will be streaming these games on his Twitch channel with a significant delay. It will certainly be interesting to hear how the player communicates with his team considering the fact that he is one of the most accomplished captains in the world of professional Dota 2.

On April 5th, PPD announced that he was retiring from Dota 2.

This was the player’s second retirement. Previously he retired to go on and become EG's CEO before coming back into active competition a year later.

The Dota Summit 13 is scheduled to happen from October 21 to November 8 in three regions namely EU/CIS, NA/SA, and SEA. The overall prize pool for this tournament is $250,000 USD, the prize pool for NA is not yet revealed at the time of writing. This tournament is also officially supported by Valve.
