Abed Will Be Standing in For Geek Fam
The announcement states that Abed will be competing in Geek Fam in the upcoming ESL One Thailand tournament.
The Southeast Asian team will be playing in the ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia tournament. Unfortunately, the team has not yet been able to replace Marc Polo Luis "Raven" Fausto who recently departed from the lineup. Hence, they had to find someone to stand-in for the Filipino carry, in his place.
Abed will likely play in the midlane for Geek Fam. This also likely means that Karl "Karl" Jayme will have to switch to the carry role.
Geek Fam’s lineup for ESL One Thailand 2020 will be:
- Carry: Abed “Abed” Yusop
- Mid: Karl "Karl" Jayme
- Offlaner: Carlo "Kuku" Palad
- Soft Support: Kenny "Xepher" Deo
- Hard Support: Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon
Edit: Kuku has confirmed that Karl will be playing in the mid lane and Abed will be playing as the carry on his Facebook page. The article has been edited to reflect the same.
This will be Abed’s first professional Dota 2 game in over 4 months. That occurred when he stood in for TNC Predator for 1 match in the BTS Pro Series 2: SEA tournament.
Geek Fam has been on quite a roll recently, winning two premiere SEA tournaments (BTS Pro Series 2: SEA and ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA Leage) in a row. Unfortunately, they had to let their star carry Raven leave the team for Fnatic. It will be interesting to see whether Geek Fam can maintain that same level of performance without Raven.
