Geek Fam Win Their 2nd Championship in a Row at ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League
Geek Fam wins the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League after beating Fnatic in the Grand Finals 3-1. This is the team’s second championship in a row, after their win at the BTS Pro Series 2: Southeast Asia Championship. They win $40,000 in prize money as a result.
This will be certainly disappointing for Fnatic and their fans especially considering their recent winning streak where they won five tournaments in a row. Geek Fam, on the other hand, will be elated. The team has gone from strength to strength and even managed to battle their way through the entirety of the lower brackets to claim the trophy.
Geek Fam had to battle their way through TNC Predator in the Lower Bracket Finals. Raven put on a phenomenal showing on Gyrocopter in Game 1 and Phantom Lancer in Game 2, putting up a 18/2/12 average KDA.
Geek Fam in The Grand Finals of ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League
Game 1: Raven dominated the first game of the Grand Finals with his Naga Siren. He raked in the farm and single-handedly carried his team in the net worth department. His team also delivered extremely well, pulling off some spectacular combos at clutch timings. Both Whitemon and Xepher in particular pulled off some intricate plays with their Aghanim’s Scepter timings.
Even though DJ pulled off some amazing steals on the Rubick, and tried to turn it around. Geek Fam was simply too far ahead for it to have any meaningful impact.
Game 2: Fnatic answered back in the second game with an amazing performance from Moon on his Puck. Geek Fam’s Terrorblade-Pangolier cores simply failed to get online which lead to them conceding the game in just 35 minutes.
Game 3: Raven got his hands on the Terrorblade once again. But this time he put on a performance worthy of the lofty expectations he set for himself after his recent performances in the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.
He dominated his way through the game and secured yet another win for his team, with another impressive performance on the carry role.
Game 4: The final game was just a one-sided stomp in the favour of Geek Fam. The scoreline (43-7) tells the whole story. Fnatic lost every single lane and ended up being played off the map for the majority of the game.
DJ’s Earthshaker was the only reason they held on for as long as they did. His echo slams did massive amounts of damage and halted Geek Fam’s momentum.
Unfortunately, it was just delaying the inevitable, as Geek Fam simply overran Fnatic in their base to claim the win in 44 minutes.
