A 15-year-old Dota 2 player who goes by the name Butterfly/Satanic has attained rank 1 in the European region. Satanic, whose identity remains shrouded in mystery to the Dota 2 community, has surpassed all the Dota 2 pros including Entity’s carry Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov who held the rank 1 spot for almost a year. Although not much is known about this 15-year-old, this achievement speaks volumes about his talent and skill. Playing as a carry, Satanic has a 60% win rate over the last 60 games and has been playing with and against the top Dota 2 players every day.
Satanic: A Young Prodigy in the Making?
On 19th February, a 15-year-old Dota 2 player Satanic or Butterfly hit the top rank on the European server. This impressive feat, the player’s Dota 2 talent and skill has to be acknowledged. Satanic may very well be the next prodigy of Dota 2. It is also noteworthy that Satanic has been sitting on the top 10 of the Dota 2 European leaderboard for a few months now.
Looking at his game history, it is clear that Satanic’s main role is the carry position. According to Dota 2 pro tracker, Satanic has a win rate of 60% in the last 60 games. In these 60 games, Satanic played Meepo 16 times with an impressive win rate of 68.8%. He also played Luna nine times and won six out of the nine games.
However, his Morphling seems to be on the downside with a total of seven games in the recent days with only two victories out of the seven. In total, Satanic has over 8.5K games recorded and boasts an impressive 52.76% win rate.
According to stratz.com, Satanic’s top five heroes are:
Morphling
Slark
Anti Mage
Faceless Void
Naga Siren
Interestingly, out of his 8.5K matches, over 6,000 games were recorded in the Southeast Asian region and only 2000 games were recorded in the European region. He is often seen playing solo and rarely plays in a party stack. It is always promising to see young talent rise through the ranks. It will be interesting to see if Satanic ever embraces the world of competitive Dota 2 esports.
But the question that remains is whether Satanic will be able to hold on to the Rank 1 spot or if it will be reclaimed by watson swiftly. It should be noted that watson is often regarded as one of the best pub-stompers in Dota 2.
