Heroes are central to Valve's Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game Dota 2. As each player selects a unique hero at the start of the game, the 5v5 Dota 2 game revolves around them. There is a wide range of heroes to choose from and all of them can be played right from your first game. This means you do not have to buy any heroes to play them. Additionally, each hero serves a different purpose and performs a different role depending on how the game is expected to play out. This article looks at how many heroes are in Dota 2 at the moment, as well as their various aspects.

Number of Heroes in Dota 2 in 2021

There are currently 122 heroes in Dota 2. When the game was launched, the majority of this hero pool was not available. As Valve added new heroes, the hero count increased over time. During the last six years, Valve has added one or two heroes each year.

Marci is the latest hero to be added to Dota 2. She was included in October 2021 as the 122nd hero, a few days after The International 10 (TI10) came to a close. The hero preceding her, Dawnbreaker, was the 121st hero added to the game in April 2021.

Classification of Dota 2 Heroes

Dota 2 heroes are divided into three categories - Strength heroes, Agility heroes, and Intelligence heroes. Based on the three primary attributes of the game, Strength, Agility, and Intelligence, these three hero classifications have been created.

Strength Heroes

Strength heroes have their primary attribute as "Strength." Each strength point provides strength heroes with health, health regeneration, and damage. As a result, these heroes are likely to tank a lot of damage for their teammates. They are expected to initiate fights and lock down their enemy heroes.

Dota 2 has 41 strength heroes.

Agility Heroes

Agility heroes have their primary attribute as "Agility." Each agility point provides agility heroes with attack speed, armor, and damage. Therefore, these heroes are expected to dish out tons of damage in a short amount of time. However, these heroes are weaker at the start and need support to reach their full potential.

Dota 2 has 38 agility heroes.

Intelligence Heroes

Intelligence heroes have their primary attribute as “Intelligence.’ Each intelligence point provides intelligence heroes with mana, mana regeneration, and damage. At the start, these heroes deal a lot of damage with their abilities and skills. They help the agility heroes farm the map and make room for them.

Dota 2 has 43 intelligence heroes.

Intelligence Dota 2 Heroes

Remember that heroes in Dota 2 can fulfill multiple purposes, which might necessitate adjusting their roles in certain situations.

Which is the best Dota 2 hero?

Due to the fact that a player chooses one hero at the start and plays it for the duration of the entire game, it might seem as though you can spam the same hero over and over. However, with all the complexities the game offers in terms of items, laning, teamfights, gold, and more, heroes can accomplish a lot more than you might expect. In some games, an intelligence hero may be the most powerful hero even in ultra-late situations, whereas an agility hero may be the least useful.

All heroes can function in different ways, so the best Dota 2 hero varies from game to game, depending on both the skill of the player and the game's situation.
