WePlay Academy League Season 1 Featuring $88,000 USD Prize Pool Enters Final Stage

WePlay Academy League Season 1 has entered its final stage with four CS:GO teams successfully qualifying through the online qualifying stage of the tournament. The final stage scheduled to take place from 27^th to 29^th August will feature an $88,000 USD prize pool, following the $12,000 USD cash prize distributed between the teams that failed to make it through the online qualifiers. The four qualified teams will be taking on each other in a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket with the finals set to be a five-game series. The upper bracket team will have one map advantage.

WePlay Academy League Season 1 - Final stage preview

The online stage of the WePlay Academy League Season 1 came to an end yesterday with the conclusion of the Play-In stage. The online qualifiers ran from 19^th July all the way till 8^th August, during which the eight invited teams played each other twice following a double round-robin format league.

At the end of the regular season, the top three teams directly qualified for the final stage while the next four CS:GO teams on the leaderboards competed in the 'Play-In' stage. From here, the final remaining team went on to join the others for the final stage of the tournament.

Qualified Teams

The four CS:GO teams to qualify for the final stage of WePlay Academy League Season 1 are,

• mouz NXT

• Young Ninjas

• BIG Academy

• Fnatic Rising

The top three teams were the cream of the crop, dominating the regular season with good performances and a comfortable scoreline on the leaderboards.

• Mouz NXT finished with 11 wins under their belt and just three losses, one each against FURIA Academy, BIG Academy, and Young Ninjas. After a rough start, as they lost two of their matches early on, the team adapted well and took control of the situation.

• Young Ninjas were right up there with 10 wins and four losses, just one more than the team above. This team showed dominance and consistency, one of the few who managed to win a game against Mouz NXT.

• BIG Academy with its young completely German roster was also a force to reckon with, winning nine out of their 14 matches while losing just five. They enjoyed a fantastic start, winning five out of their opening six games.

• Fnatic Rising who were fourth on the leaderboard had to fight their way through the Play-In stage. They went up against Na'Vi Junior in the finals and came out on top with flying colours, winning the match '2-0'.

Final Stage: Format and Schedule

The final stage of the tournament will be played across August's last weekend, taking place from 27^th to 29^th. The four qualified teams will take on each other in a double-elimination bracket where each match will be a best-of-three series, except for the finals which will feature a five-game series with the team coming from upper bracket being granted a one map advantage.

The bracket and the initial matchups have not been set so far and they will be announced as we move closer to the event playoffs.

Prize Pool Distribution

The tournament in total featured a $100,000 USD prize pool, $12,000 USD for the online qualifier stage which was distributed among teams that could not make it to the main stage, and $88,000 USD for the teams competing in the playoffs.

Similar to the online qualifier stage of the event, the final stage of the tournament will also be livestreamed on WePlay CS:GO's official Twitch channels in both English and Russian. This will ensure engagement with both the global and the local audiences.
