The IEM Rio Major 2022 is all set to take place from 31st October to 13th November. Esports fans will witness two weeks of top-tier CS:GO action as 24 teams from around the world compete against each other for a total prize pool of $1,250,000 USD (INR 10,28,79,313), the second largest in Major history.
All participants have been segregated into three groups of eight teams, each based on placement in their respective regional RMR (Regional Major Rankings) tournaments - Contenders, Challengers, and Legends. The Major will be played in front of packed stadiums across Riocentro and Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The first stage of the tournament is scheduled to start on 31st October, taking place across the next three days and coming to an end on 3rd November with the top eight teams qualifying ahead to the Legends Stage.

Challengers Stage Format
A 16-team Swiss System format will be followed.
Elimination and Qualification matches will feature a best-of-three series.
All other matches will be a single-match series.
The top eight teams will proceed to the Legends Stage.
The bottom eight teams will be eliminated from the Major.
Challengers Stage Prize Pool
The IEM Rio Major 2022 features a total prize pool of $1,250,000 USD which will be divided between the top 16 teams. This means that all the teams that compete in the Legends Stage will be walking away with some share of the prize money.
Challengers Stage Livestreams
Two livestreams will be simultaneously running for the first two stages of the Rio Major, Challengers Stage and Legends Stage.
While the primary stream will be broadcasted in 27 different languages across multiple streaming platforms, the secondary stream will run in only nine languages.
All stages of the IEM Rio Major 2022 will be played in front of a live audience. The first two stages will take place in Riocentro, while the playoffs shall take place in the Jeunesse Arena.
In addition to this, an IEM Fan Fest will also be taking place outside the stadium which shall be hosted by popular Brazilian streamer, Alexandre "Gaules" Borba.
