FaZe Clan Claims Top Spot in HLTV CS:GO World Rankings For the First Time in Four Years
True to the game, true to its name, #FaZeUp.
It has been quite an ascent for the North American esports organization FaZe Clan, as it returns to the number one spot on the latest HLTV world ranking after four years.
The last time FaZe had held on to this position was in April 2018 and even back then both Finn "karrigan" Andersen and Håvard "rain" Nygaard were part of the active lineup.
It has been a hard road for FaZe over the years. Even though they had a star studded lineup consistent victories eluded them. They did find victories every now and then, but nothing too significant to turn things around.
However, FaZe has started off on a positive note this year, after the arrival of Robin "ropz" Kool, who continues to maintain a 100% win rate with the team so far.
FaZe Clan becomes best CS:GO team in the world after four years
Prior to now, the previous time when FaZe Clan was the number one team on the HLTV world rankings was four years ago. Since then, Astralis had a dominant era which included them winning three consecutive Majors, Liquid claimed the Intel Grand Slam Season 2 in record 63 days, and even NAVI went on to win its first ever Major in Stockholm last year.
Despite trying out different players and competing with various lineups over the years, things did not exactly go FaZe's way until this year when they brought in ropz over from MOUZ.
Now the team seems to have found the perfect mix of players who are executing their roles really well. This resulted in FaZe winning the first LAN tournament of the year, IEM Katowice 2022, despite playing the majority of the tournament with Justin "jks" Savage as a stand-in.
With many in the community still doubting the team, FaZe Clan followed this up by winning the ESL Pro League Season 15 where they played with its original lineup. The victory resulted in them becoming the first CS:GO team to qualify for the BLAST Premier World Final 2022.
The efforts of all the players are finally paying off and within the first quarter of the year, FaZe has managed to become the best CS:GO team in the world. With the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 right around the corner, they are now shaping up to be one of the top contenders for the tournament.
