Swedish esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) seems to be undergoing a bit of a roster shuffle post the Stockholm Major 2021, as the organization is bolstering its CS:GO team for the next competitive season. The young Linus "LNZ" Holtäng has been competing alongside the main roster for the last six months. LNZ came over from their academy roster, and now might be getting replaced by Patrick "es3tag" Hansen, who is currently on Complexity Gaming's inactive lineup, according to a report by Dexerto.
If this report comes true, NIP will be acquiring its second Danish player following their star marksman Nicolai "device" Reedtz, as they step into 2022 with a fresh new look.
NIP might reportedly replace LNZ with es3tag
The Swedish organization seems to be prepping for the next competitive season following their 5th-8th finish at the PGL major Stockholm 2021, where they lost their quarterfinals match to G2 Esports.
As per reports, the 25-year-old Danish rifler, es3tag, might be on the radar to replace their academy roster stand-in, LNZ, who has been competing alongside the main NIP roster since June 2021.
In his five months with the team, LNZ has competed in a lot of top-tier tournaments like IEM Summer 2021, IEM Cologne 2021, ESL pro League Season 14, IEM Fall 2021: Europe, and even the coveted Stockholm Major 2021. So despite being just a temporary addition to the roster, LNZ has already managed to get himself a player autograph sticker, which is quite the achievement.
The player that might come in as a possible replacement, es3tag, has hopped around a lot since March 2020. In the last 20 months, he has already moved through five different organizations between Europe and North America. The teams es3tag has been across include - Heroic, FunPlus Phoenix, Astralis, Cloud9, and Complexity.
His longest stint lasted nine months with Cloud9, where he actively competed for only five months after which he was forced to take the bench for the next four months. Somehow, es3tag has managed to stay in the spotlight with teams managing to sign him, and the next organization that he plays for could probably be NIP.
It will be interesting to see if this change actually goes through or not. If the reports turn out to be true, the NIP CS:GO roster might appear as follows:
Fredrik "REZ" Sterner
Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora
Hampus "hampus" Poser [IGL]
Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz
Patrick "es3tag" Hansen
Björn "THREAT" Pers [Coach]
