ESL Pro League Season 14 came to an end with Na'Vi lifting the trophy, however, the highlight moment of the tournament was witnessed during the quarterfinals match between Heroic and Team Liquid. The hype moment for Heroic was a nightmare for Liquid as they lost a crucial 1v5 clutch to Ismail "refrezh" Ali at map and match point on Inferno.
Talking about the incident, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski in a statement to Dot Esports said that, "It feels just like everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong”. However, the North American rifler is not too worried about facing such a situation again anytime soon, due to it being a once in a blue moon play.
EliGE talks about the hard loss Team Liquid faced against Heroic at ESL Pro League
EliGE recently spoke about the embarrassing 1v5 loss that Team Liquid faced against Heroic in the most crucial round of their three-game series at ESL Pro League Season 14.
Winning that round would have resulted in Liquid moving ahead to the semifinals to go up against Na'Vi, instead, the North American organization choked hard to lose a 1v5 situation as refrezh armed with a Galil went huge to clutch an almost impossible round.
Comparing it to Richard “shox” Papillon's 1v4 clutch against Luminosity from 2016 in the finals of ESL Pro League, EliGE came forward to point out a few mistakes that Liquid had committed in that moment by saying,
We didn’t double-peek on the guy (refrezh), but it’s hard because there’s a very real possibility that refrezh is sitting in pit. And if they double-peeked, then he could have isolated the guy at triple and killed that guy, and then it’s another one-vs-one in site and he knows (Stewie2k) is in emo (dark). My mistake is a lot easier (to learn from), I could have just been more patient instead of running toward the smoke.Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski - Statement to Dot Esports
The loss in that particular round resulted in overtime where Heroic slammed Liquid shut who were clearly demoralised following the 1v5 bashing.
Even the CS:GO community wasn't too kind on Liquid, calling the situation out as another classic Liquid choke as they missed out on a huge win to finish 5th-8th at the grand event.
