Evil Geniuses (EG) has officially confirmed the signing of Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip as the IGL (In-Game Leader) of its CS:GO roster for the 2022 season. The announcement comes just a day after Team Liquid bid farewell to the talented rifler, who recently moved from North America to Europe. Initially, the community was puzzled by this surprise announcement by Stewie2K, but it all started to make sense following a series of not so cryptic tweets by Nicole LaPointe Jameson - CEO of Evil Geniuses.
As part of this announcement, Stewie2K stated that he cannot wait to join the rest of the team at the European bootcamp and get started with the project. This clarifies why Stewie2K moved to Europe and also gives fans a rough idea of the direction in which EG is headed with its CS:GO project.
Stewie2K joins Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster for 2022 season
Evil Geniuses has finally signed a player for its 2022 lineup. The North American organization was one of the first teams to start considering roster changes following a disastrous run last season. By the end of the competitive season, EG had run out of steam and hence announced the departure of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, Owen "oBo" Schlatter, and Michał "MICHU" Müller in the first week of November.
For the remainder of the year, EG did not make any official announcements regarding their CS:GO team with the exception of signing Damien "maLeK" Marcel as its coach.
Following the long wait, earlier last week, Jameson teasing a potential lineup that might be the actual roster.
Following this, EG finally unveiled Stewie2K as the captain of its CS:GO roster earlier today.
I am super excited to be announcing that I will be part of the Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster. I can't wait to join the guys at the European bootcamp and get started on our new project. I hope you guys follow me on my new adventure and journey with the team. I can't wait to show what we can do and reveal our true potential.Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip
EG had mentioned that the three players joining them would be filling the following roles - Rifler (2) and IGL (1). While they have successfully signed their shot caller, now all that remains are the two riflers to complete their lineup.
As per the tease by Jameson, these two riflers could be William "RUSH" Wierzba and Timothy "autimatic" Ta. The complete roster will be announced in the next few days as EG prepares for its debut of the new lineup at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022.
