CS:GO Creates History by Breaking All-Time Peak Player Count Record
So much for a title labelled as 'Dead Game'.
There has been a noticeable surge in the peak concurrent player count for CS:GO since August 2022, with the game consistently crossing the one million mark for six consecutive months now.
However, all hell broke lose on 11th February, as CS:GO witnessed a peak of more than 1.32 million concurrent players at 19:00 IST to create a new record for the decade-old title, as per data collected from SteamDB and Steam Charts.
This historic feat for the game comes just a few days after the release of multiple community items like the Revolution Weapon Case, Espionage Sticker Capsule, and Denzel Curry ULTIMATE Music Kit.
CS:GO creates a new record for the all-time peak concurrent player count
After almost three years, CS:GO has broken the all-time record for peak player count by registering a new high of 1,320,219 concurrent users, witnessed on 11th February at 19:00 IST.
The previous high of 1,305,714 concurrent players was recorded in April 2020, during a time when the whole world was battling against a pandemic.
A difference of 14,505 concurrent players has helped the popular Valve title in creating another record for the history books, coming just a few days after the release of multiple high-value community items like weapon skins, stickers, and even a new music kit.
Another major factor that could have contributed to this record-breaking peak player count could be the ongoing CS:GO tournament, IEM Katowice 2023, which is witnessing top-tier action between the final four teams in the semifinal stage of the competition.
CS:GO has been gaining users rapidly since November 2022, registering a massive positive rise in January 2023 with a gain of more than 96,000 unique players, which is a common annual phenomenon.
With a great start to 2023, it will be interesting to see how much can CS:GO achieve this year across the game in general and competitive side of things.
