BLAST Interested in Hosting a CS:GO Major: "When Time Is Right, We Will Do It"
A new organizer ready to join hands with Valve?
BLAST Premier is one of the top tournament organizers when it comes to competitive CS:GO alongside veterans like ESL, DreamHack, PGL, and more. They have also organized a few Valorant tournaments, though it is still in a very early stage regarding this title.
Talking about Counter-Strike, BLAST has managed to capture a good chunk of the market on the back of its interesting event formats, amazingly high level production, and a whole new level of entertainment which has now become synonymous with its brand.
It seems BLAST is now ready to take the next step by hosting a CS:GO Major, which is also a popular demand from the community members, the only looming questions are when and where.
BLAST might soon host a CS:GO Major: "Always interested in hosting a Major"
Charlotte Kenny, managing director at BLAST, in a recent interview with Pley spoke about a lot of things related to CS:GO including their potential plans when it comes to hosting a Major.
"Watch this space. When the time is right, we will do a Major," said Kenny, while confirming that the tournament organizer has always been interested in hosting a Major, one of the biggest esports tournaments to take place every year.
Despite the professional top-tier competitive circuit being almost entirely dominated by ESL when it comes to CS:GO, BLAST has managed to find its niche by starting out slow and then managing to build its own fast-paced circuit that runs throughout the season, parallel to the main circuit.
The unique production style, fun segments, unorthodox formats, and just the overall surge of entertainment that BLAST tournaments provide have attracted many in the community, who have now started demanding them to organize a CS:GO Major.
"We always get lots of comments on whether we are interested in hosting a Major or not. Just to dispel any rumors; BLAST is always interested in hosting a Major," clarified Kenny, while adding "What’s important is that our community wants to have a Major hosted by BLAST, so that we can make sure that it is the best Major that ever will be and that it fits in with our strategy."
When enquired if BLAST had bid for the Major tournaments planned to take place next year, Kenny refrained from specifically answering this question but did go on to say that they will let everyone know whenever they are absolutely ready to host a Major.
