BBC is creating a CS:GO documentary about IEM Rio Major 2022 and you can also be a part of it
ESL and BBC are working to produce a CS:GO documentary featuring the IEM Rio Major 2022 which is going to be one of the biggest tournaments to have ever taken place in the history of the game.
In a personal statement, Michał “Carmac” Blichiarz - Vice President of Product Development at ESL, remarked that this documentary project has been co-commissioned by them and it will not be released on any platform owned by the BBC network.
Instead, the documentary will exclusively premiere on ESL's official YouTube channel dedicated to CS:GO (ESL Counter-Strike) in January 2023. It will be free to watch for everyone across the world, which is great for both fans and those getting exposure to the scale that esports has managed to reach over the years.
According to Carmac, ESL wanted to make sure that the IEM Rio Major got the right level of storytelling due to the unprecedented scale at which it was being organized.
The best part is that CS:GO fans and enthusiasts can get involved in this project by simply reaching out to BBC via email in which they are required to explain in brief why they are the biggest fan of the title. All those interested can reach out to BBC at MadeOfMadness@BBC.co.uk and if shortlisted folks will be featured in the documentary.
The IEM Rio Major 2022 is scheduled to take place from 31st October to 13th November. It will be interesting to see what BBC Studios is able to whip up by covering the entire tournament and working in tandem with ESL.
This documentary is scheduled to release around two months after the tournament concludes, sometime in January 2023. Fans will most certainly be eagerly awaiting the airing of this documentary on one of the biggest tournament of their beloved game.
