The upcoming star AWPer Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov who currently plays for Gambit Esports has featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Russia 2021, under the category of ‘Sports and Esports’. The announcement comes roughly a month after he along with Virtus.pro AWPer and in-game leader Dzhami "Jame" Ali were shortlisted under this category. This is the first time that the 19-year-old has been inducted into the list, following his overwhelming growth in the international competitive circuit in the past few months. Along with his team Gambit Esports, sh1ro has gone on to deliver multiple strong performances winning the MVP award at IEM Katowice 2021.

The 19-year-old Russian star AWPer has witnessed huge growth on both a personal and professional front since the start of 2021. Along with Gambit Esports which burst into the top of the competitive circuit earlier this year with a surprise underdog win at IEM Katowice 2021, even sh1ro came under the spotlight.

He was a big reason behind Gambit’s sudden meteoric rise in the international circuit, going on to win the MVP of the tournament with a 1.27 rating across 17 maps along with a K/D ratio of 1.52 (+111 K/D difference). The young AWPer impressed a lot of players in the circuit with many starting to compare him to one of the best players in the world Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev.

Since the start of the year, sh1ro has continued to maintain his performance despite indulging in more top-tier competitive Counter-Strike. His aggressive AWP plays go on to show the confidence he has in himself and his skills, keeping pace with some of the best players in the world while at the same time delivering results.

Since February 2021, sh1ro along with Gambit Esports has won IEM Katowice 2021, Pinnacle Cup, and BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2021, while also securing a runners-up finish at ESL Pro League Season 13 and DreamHack Masters Spring 2021. This has resulted in Gambit Esports currently ranking as the best CS:GO team in the world, a spot that they have maintained for the last 7 weeks.

On a personal front, sh1ro has contributed heavily to the team’s success by consistently delivering a performance of above a 1.0 rating, across all tournaments played since the start of the year so far. He is turning into a hot prospect for the top-ten or top-five CS:GO player of 2021, if he keeps delivering this way going ahead.

Jame from Virtus.pro was also shortlisted for the ‘Sports and Esports’ category alongside sh1ro, but could not make it into the final list. Alongside sh1ro, Russian streamer Slava Buster was also included in Forbes 30 Under 30 Russia 2021 under the category of ‘New Media’.
