Former Astralis Lineup Returns Tonight

The most successful Astralis lineup is finally coming back as fans revel in excitement. Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Andreas “Xyp9x” Hojsleth,  Lukas “gla1ve“ Rossander, and Emil “Magisk“ Reif, last played together more than five months ago at ESL One: Road to Rio - Europe which was the first RMR tournament of the year.

Astralis had a dominating performance in the tournament as they lost just one group stage match against Fnatic in their entire run, going on to win the tournament and secure 1600 RMR points.

Following this tournament, Astralis lost two senior members gla1ve and Xyp9x who went on a break due to fatigue and stress. Instantly the team’s performance took a huge hit as they struggled through three consecutive tournaments which saw them drop out of the top ten global rankings after more than three years.

After the player break, Astralis came back stronger with gla1ve returning to lead the side as they went on to win ESL Pro League Season 12: Europe followed by a third-place finish at DreamHack Open Fall 2020 which was also an RMR tournament.

Now with Xyp9x also returning to competitive Counter-Strike the former Astralis roster has come back once again looking forward to winning their group stage matches and directly qualifying for the main event. It will be interesting to see if the Danes utilize the penalty-free substitution rules in place at the tournament or go through with a fixed playing five.
