The in-game leader for Astralis Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander has stepped back from his responsibilities for the next three months saying that he will be using this time “to fully rest and then come back to the Astralis team.”
The 24-year-old revealed that the reason behind taking this break is him showing symptoms of stress and burnout for a long time now. The Danish captain did credit his teammates and Astralis with helping him out by trying various things to overcome this, but “As it’s still going on, my doctor and I have decided that I need a break, and yesterday I have given a sick note to Astralis.”
The Danish organization recently defeated G2 Esports by a score of ‘3-0’ to win the ESL One: Road to Rio - Europe, now standing at the top of the European Regional Major Rankings for Rio Major 2020 with 2400 points to their name, 800 from Berlin Major 2019 (Winners) and 1600 from Road to Rio - Europe (Winners).
Rossander thanked his teammates and the organization for understanding and helping him out through this situation, as he concluded by saying that “It can be tough to put health first, but I have found out that it’s necessary.”
Following this announcement, Astralis announced Jakob "JUGi" Hansen’s debut with the organization, as the 23-year-old steps in to replace gla1ve. Astralis have been preparing for gla1ve’s departure for some time now as both Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz and Emil "Magisk" Reif have been observed making calls for Astralis at moments in recent times. For now, Astralis have however officially named Magisk as the team’s in-game leader.
With this, Astralis take part in DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe starting today, their first match against another Danish team Heroic.

- Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
