The Australian dominant lineup of Renegades has won their sixth consecutive CS:GO tournament with their recent victory at Perfect World Oceania League Fall 2020. This win has ensured them a spot in the next CS:GO Major as they finish at the top of the Oceania Regional Major Rankings with a total of 4100 points to their name.
Renegades are truly turning out to be an Oceanic powerhouse when it comes to Counter-Strike having won every single top-tier tournament taking place in the region ever since the game went online due to the global pandemic. Since May they have participated in a total of six tournaments and have won every single one of them, AVANT Gaming has been the second-best team having faced Renegades in the finals of three of these events.
Renegades has managed to win both the CS:GO Major qualifiers with distinction securing the maximum possible points 4100, 1600 for winning ESL One: Road to Rio - Oceania and 2500 for winning POL Fall. Throughout this journey, Renegades has managed to keep a super stable roster which has observed no player changes since January 2020, the only change was the addition of their Danish coach Torbjorn “mithR” Nyborg.
Joshua “INS” Potter and Chris “dexter” Nong have turned out to be the best performing players for the side with an overall rating of 1.28 and 1.27 respectively, in the last six months. It is rare to see an in-game leader perform so well in-game but it does not seem to both dexter who also has the highest impact rating of 1.36 among all the team members.
The team might be doing extremely well in the region but outside of it they are still yet to do significant damage, they did place second at DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 in January this year but that was a one-off showing by the Australian side who then went on to place 13th-16th at IEM Katowice 2020. Let’s see how Renegades perform internationally once CS:GO returns to LAN tournaments.
