  • CS:GO players can now enjoy playing the game of tic-tac-toe for real on Inferno.

  • Players just need to stand near the tic-tac-toe board and shoot with their weapons to play the game.

  • The following change is part of the major update that came out earlier today but was not mentioned in the update log.

Valve pushed a huge update for CS:GO earlier today which involved a lot of minor changes for various maps, while also including a new graphics setting called ‘Boost Player Contrast’ which is directed at better visibility of stationary player models.

But the most important update which was not mentioned in the patch notes was making the tic-tac-toe board present on Inferno's T-Spawn operational for all players. Will this result in an increase in the pick rate of the map?

The same was shown by CS:GO Twitter personality Haci (@DonHaci), who via a short clip showcased himself enjoying a game of tic-tac-toe with a friend on Inferno. The players simply went up to the drawing of the tic-tac-toe board on the floor towards the far end of ‘T-Spawn’ and started playing the game by right-clicking their weapons on the intended box.

How this works is that the game automatically detects when two players walk up to the board, starting the game for them as soon as one of them fires his weapon at one of the boxes. After the game comes to an end, there is a small refresh timer after which the board resets and the players can enjoy the game again. Though all this fun does come at a small price of one bullet per move.

In the days before the update, players used to play tic-tac-toe on the board using normal bullet marks or knife scars as an indicator for their move, but this used to lead to a lot of confusion and cheating so the players started using graffiti spray instead. But as they were limited in usage, it wasn’t a viable option to play the game using them in the long term.

So this update is actually quite useful and something that the whole community gladly accepts with open arms. Now the players can destress themselves inbetween rounds and take certain team decisions based on the outcome of a game of X’s and 0’s.
