It looks like CS:GO’s upcoming competitor 'Project A' from Riot Games has managed to impress Henry “HenryG” Greer - CS:GO caster and former pro player. The 31-year-old caster went on to state that “Project A is the best game I have played since CS:GO,” as his final verdict.
Through a series of tweets, HenryG shared some of his initial thoughts and impressions. Without revealing too many details of the game, he was able to share his experience, giving players a heads-up of what to expect.
Explaining the game, HenryG said that “at its core, Project A is essentially a round based, 5 on 5, tactical shooter, with the better (and slightly diluted) elements of class/hero based FPS games such as Overwatch or Apex Legends.”
This in itself gives us a clear idea of what the game is all about. He was able to play different game modes like “MR12, DE/SnD with an A & B bombsite with an attack/defence swap at half time.”
He went on to give his opinion on different elements of the game such as classes/heroes, “these aforementioned classes and their own unique 'abilities' should be seen as tactical utility instead of potentially overpowered spell/ultimate combinations.”
At first mention, this seems like Project A's alternative to utility items such as smoke grenades in CS:GO.

Also revealing that these ‘abilities’ would have to be “purchased at the start of a round instead of learned over time.” This way these abilities are dependent on the economy reservoir, just as weaponry is dependent on it in CS:GO.
“Similar to CS:GO, with the economy system, you could partially invest into rounds with less-fire power to take a gamble on a round and enter with basic abilities/utility.”

Talking a bit about the gameplay and gun mechanics, HenryG describes them as being “super slick and satisfying,” along with weapons having “their own unique spray patterns and best method(s) of approach for your situation or position.”
He also appreciated the map design stating that “they have been beautifully created and follow Counter-strike-esque familiar lanes and choke points. With the focus on game-play substance, rather than flowery aesthetics.”
While wrapping up his overview he said that “I will be creating some initial content at a later date where I can dive into a lot more specific information,” and that the game “has the potential to be one of the giant titles of the FPS space.”
Based on the above review by HenryG it looks like Project A is all set to be a tough competitor for Valve's CS:GO which has been enjoying record-breaking user statistics over the last month. Only time will tell how much impact will it have on the veteran FPS title.
